About the Department
Solano Community College is seeking a qualified applicants for temporary part-time teaching assignments. Assignments may include day, evening and weekend courses. The district may cancel classes or change instructors as enrollment needs are determined.
The successful candidate will teach all levels photography courses, including photojournalism and documentary photography, introductory and intermediate digital photography, studio and location lighting, theories of composition, Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop, and photography history and concepts. Focus would be on teaching photography photojournalism and documentary photography.
This position is a part-time position. The teaching assignment may require teaching lecture-discussion courses during day, evening or on Saturday and/or in an on-line/distance education format. The assignments are as needed, during Spring, Summer, and/or Fall semesters. We seek candidates who are able and willing to train for and teach online as well as on campus.
The School of Liberal Arts at Solano Community College represents a broad spectrum of curriculum and programs. We are committed to providing quality programs and services toward developmental education, transfer degrees, and workforce development. Solano Community College's well-respected art program, within the School of Liberal Arts offers students the opportunity to take a variety of different courses within the field of art practice. Our curriculum develops a student's critical thinking skills, hones problem-solving skills, and establishes visual literacy. Our photography facility includes a state-of-the-art digital lab including color management tools and printers, a wet darkroom, and a studio well-equipped with ProFoto lights, as well as cameras, lights and other tools and equipment for student check-out.
We are seeking an applicant available to teach on campus in Spring 2026, as well as to be part of a faculty pool for possible future assignments.

Minimum Qualifications
Qualified candidates must have a Master of Fine Arts in photography or a related field or a Bachelor’s degree and significant professional experience in photography. If you do not meet the minimum qualifications exactly as stated above, you may request an equivalency review and submit conclusive supporting documents at the time of application.
