We are seeking a Controller to lead our accounting and finance operations. This role is critical in ensuring accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, and strategic insights that support Chapel Hill Tire’s continued growth. Beyond the numbers, the Controller is a partner to operations. From streamlining processes and reducing administrative burdens, to empowering store managers to focus on what matters most: leading their teams and serving customers.

We’re looking for a financial leader who combines technical expertise with servant leadership, a collaborative mindset, and a drive for continuous improvement in an evolving field.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead financial operations: Oversee accounting, payroll, accounts payable, and reporting to ensure accuracy and GAAP compliance.
  • Deliver insights: Provide timely financial reports, budgets, forecasts, and cash flow analysis that enable quick, confident decision-making.
  • Be a strategic partner: Collaborate with the President and leadership team on growth initiatives, ROI modeling, and business planning.
  • Strengthen controls: Develop accounting policies, ensure compliance with tax and reporting requirements, and manage relationships with auditors and financial institutions.
  • Develop the team: Mentor and grow the accounting department, fostering a culture of accountability, learning, and well-being.
  • Drive efficiency: Identify and implement process improvements and technology solutions to reduce administrative burdens and improve accuracy.
  • Support operations: Partner with store managers and operational leaders to simplify financial processes and support decision-making at the store level.
  • Oversee systems & IT: Ensure financial and operational systems are secure, reliable, and integrated; manage vendor relationships and technology innovation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration (CPA or CMA preferred).
  • 5+ years of progressively responsible accounting/finance experience, ideally in a Controller or senior finance leadership role.
  • Proven results in accounting operations, budgeting, forecasting, cash management, and audits.
  • Strong technology skills; proficiency in QuickBooks, Excel, and Microsoft 365; experience with financial/operational systems oversight a plus.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Integrity, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
