Society Insurance is seeking an IT Data Engineer Intern for Summer 2026. The Daa Engineer Intern provides day-to-day data engineering support - including problem resolution, development tasks, metrics reporting, data analysis, documentation, and/or various other activities. Constructs programs, processes, and operational procedures that extract, transform, interface, and load data into repositories. These data repositories are used to support regulatory reporting and data transfer as well as facilitate business intelligence, data analytics, and data warehouse projects. The role supports data development for new and existing applications. 
 

About the Role

  • Supports a data warehouse, data marts, and data analysis solutions, through the use of ETL, data warehouses, business intelligence methodologies. Supports team with solutions for business areas from data sources within core business software and sub-systems.
  • Documents solutions, including source/target mapping and data dictionary information, as well as workflow and schedules for automated data processing and loading.
  • Creates new and supports existing SSIS packages that move data between various sources and databases/data warehouses to support reporting and analytical business needs.
  • Creates reports and dashboards in Power BI and publishes them to SharePoint.
  • Assists in performing unit, system and regression testing of all jobs.
  • Works with other team members to resolve issues discovered by subsequent testing.
  • Works with Scrum Master, DBA, or Data Engineers and Architects to assist in completing project tasks.
  • Supports operational data process jobs by identifying, researching, and resolving performance and production issues.
  • Assists in performing ad hoc database query and data migration support for business units.
  • Attends and participates in scrum/agile ceremonies such as daily stand-ups, sprint planning, backlog refinement, and Program Increment Planning as appropriate based on assigned agile project work.

What it Will Take

  • Pursuing an associate degree or bachelor’s degree in computer science or a business-related discipline.
  • 3.0 or better cumulative GPA on a 4-point scale with a minimum of 6-9 credits in Computer Science or Management Information Systems courses.
  • Basic computer software knowledge in the Microsoft Office Suite (word processing, spreadsheets, e-mail, accessing and updating databases).
  • General database knowledge; basic SQL and object-oriented design (OOD) skills.
  • Previous work or classroom experience in at least one of the following: SQL, database techniques, design and modeling, C#.Net, Visual Studio, and/or Azure DevOps. 
  • Fundamental knowledge of logical database principles highly desirable.
  • Understanding of ETL, data warehouse, business intelligence design principles and use of their tools highly desirable.
