Sales Engineer
MISSION
Reporting to Business Development Manager, Sales Engineer’s main missions are:
- Support the technical assessment and feasibility of new modules designs
- Determine technical solutions that create value for the customers and articulate them to customers, price vs benefit
- Support the Business Development Manager to create detailed cost analysis of technical proposals and support business case creation
- Lead technical benchmarking of competitive products
Responsibilities & Activities
Commercial
- Support all requests for information or request for quotation activities including business case creation and cost analysis for submission to customers with the Business Development Manager. Support creating accurate business cases with strong collaboration with supporting departments and also across other business groups such as design engineering, industrial engineering, quality and purchasing/logistics teams
- Lead technical evaluations of design options and support Technical Reviews with customers and be able to articulate cost and pricing for various value propositions
- Understanding cost structure and pricing of competitor products through benchmarking
Technical
- Understand the automotive mega and micro trends for modularity
- Understand and communicate the customer’s needs – expressed or not – and make the adequate technical proposals with support from other departments and technical teams within the business group
- Promote OPmobility’s technology and its strengths and value proposition versus competitors
- Interact and collaborate in a close manner with the OPmobility technical experts on a large scale modules to customers
- Develop close relationship with advanced engineering teams at OEMs responsible for future product development
- Complete competitor benchmarking and cost value analysis
- Understanding the customer technical requirements
- Create detailed technical proposals and influence customer technical decision making at early development phase
PROFILE REQUIREMENTS
Personal Background
- Minimum 8 years experience in engineering or technical product development, mechanicalor industrial engineering is a plus
- High knowledge and experience with automotive OEMs, non-Automotive industry knowledge is a plus. Ideally candidate would include specific knowledge related to exteriors modules, exterior plastic parts and related assemblies, injection molding, automated assembly methods
- Ability to travel domestically for customer visits or plant visits
- Enjoying working in a small but dedicated team focused on business development and finding new technical solutions

- High ability to create strong networks and team work, and involve people without hierarchical power
- Strong technical background to evaluate multiple engineering solution paths to find the optimum one
