Job Description: Construction Manager
Reports To: Director of Fields Operations
Position Status: Full Time
FLSA Status: Exempt
Job Overview: The Construction Manager (CM) over sees the activities of Field Supervisors, and Project Managers. The CM is a primary Contact with certian customers and ensures that the projects and contract project workloads are completed according to customers expectations.
Requirements
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Engineering, Construction Management, or related discipline.
Experience: minimum 7 years’ experience within the Telecommunications Construction Industry, previous Project Management, and Field Construction Experience required.
Number and Type of Employees Supervised: Supervision of other Managers or Project Managers required.
Required Licenses or Certifications: Operator’s License OSHA-10 preferred.
Responsibilities and Duties:
· Daily Operations
- Oversee Field Supervisors and Associate Project Managers
- Serve as local field supervisor assigned Market
c. Oversee production of company crews within reporting structure
- Manage and schedule daily workload for company crew and sub-contractors
- Reporting of daily production and status to customers
- Serve as liaison between different operating areas
- Financial Responsibilities
a. Review and approval of sub-contractor invoicing for areas of responsibility
b. Review and approval of company crew daily labor report production values
c. Determine customer billing amounts based on job production
d. Manage current WIP to stay within tolerances of financial goals
e. Work up and provide quotes/bids for leadership review
- Customer Relations
a. Manage customer expectations through continued communication with key customer personnel
b. Provide accountability and resolution for escalation points with customers
c. Provide quote/bids on an as needed basis for customers
d. Develop and procure additional work through customer relationships
e. Document and submit required change orders in timely manner to ensure company compensation for work performed outside of original project plan
- Project Management
a. Oversee and manage copper/fiber splicing work in areas of responsibility
b. Serve as project manager for large scale road moves
- Overall Operations
- Provide leadership, direction, planning and support for direct reports and others.
b. Serve as main point of contact for splicing resources in majority of area
- Recruit, onboard and maintain sub-contractor workforce based on workload
- Determine appropriate levels of staffing in areas of responsibility in conjunction with leadership
- Provide employee performance evaluations to direct reports
- Overall responsibility for company equipment inside work area
- Enforce adherence to company policy and procedures
· All other duties as assigned
Required Skills:
· Proven working experience in construction management
· Advanced knowledge of construction management processes, means and methods
· Familiarity with construction management software packages
· Competent in conflict and crisis management
· Excellent verbal and communication skills
· Strong attention to detail and accuracy
· Ability to work independently on assigned duties
· Strong team and collaborative skills
· Strong time management and organizational skills
· Demonstrates an ability to manage a variety of priorities while meeting deadlines
Working Conditions:
Work conducted in a standard office environment with the potential to work outdoors at job sites. Often exposed to sounds and noise levels from equipment that are distracting and uncomfortable. Required to wear protective equipment when working at outdoor construction sites.
