Door Sourcing Specialist
Job Summary:
The Door Sourcing Specialist is responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and procuring doors, frames, and hardware for construction and renovation projects. This role ensures materials meet project specifications, building codes, and safety standards while maintaining cost-effectiveness and reliable delivery. The ideal candidate has strong vendor management skills, technical knowledge of door products, and experience working in construction or facility-related industries.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Source and procure hollow metal, wood, and specialty doors, frames, and hardware for assigned projects.
- Interpret architectural drawings, door schedules, and specifications to ensure accuracy in sourcing.
- Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers, manufacturers, and distributors to secure competitive pricing and quality products.
- Negotiate contracts and pricing agreements to achieve cost savings while meeting quality and compliance standards.
- Prepare and manage submittals for client and architect approval.
- Monitor supplier performance, delivery timelines, and resolve any issues related to quality, lead times, or logistics.
- Ensure all products comply with applicable safety, fire, ADA, and building code requirements (NFPA, IBC, UL-rated, etc.).
- Collaborate with project managers, estimators, and field teams to support project execution.
- Maintain accurate procurement records, purchase orders, and vendor agreements in ERP/project management systems.
- Research market trends, alternative products, and suppliers to reduce risk of material shortages.
Requirements and Preferred Experience:
- 3+ years of procurement, sourcing, or supply chain experience (construction, building materials, or commercial doors/hardware industry preferred).
- Knowledge of fire-rated and life-safety door requirements strongly desired.
- Strong negotiation and vendor management skills.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and door schedules.
- Familiarity with building codes and standards (NFPA, ADA, IBC, UL).
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Proficiency in ERP systems and Microsoft Office Suite; experience with Procore, Bluebeam, or AutoCAD a plus.
- Detail-oriented with ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
- Strong negotiation and vendor management skills.
