Summary

The Equipping and Women’s Ministry Director (EWD) at a congregation of The Austin Stone Community Church serves to equip and mobilize leaders and partners across the congregation. With the support of the Central Women’s Ministry Director, the EWD will advocate for a flourishing women’s ministry at their congregation that is both consistent in mission, vision and values with the overall ministry and serves the unique needs of women in that context. The EWD will report to the Spiritual Formation Director/Pastor.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Attend, serve, and lead at all required events and activities for The Austin Stone, including all Sunday services, staff meetings, prayer meetings, special events, central Women’s Ministry events, etc.

Equipping

  • Lead and support in complicated internal and external cases that involve women. 
  • Ensure equipping classes and environments are executed with excellence. 
  • Appropriately market classes and environments to maximize engagement.
  • Recruit, develop, and deploy volunteers, leaders, and teachers.
  • Assess equipping classes and provide ongoing improvement of content and delivery.
  • Facilitate annual partnership renewal process.
  • Provide administrative support to the partnership process, assisting with partner gatherings as necessary.
  • Support and maintain regular database and reporting structures.
  • May facilitate deacon recruitment and training process, providing ongoing guidance and consultation. 
  • May assist with mobilization efforts while developing and maintaining strategic non-church partnerships for local impact. 

Women’s Ministry

  • Collaborate with congregational leadership and the Central Women’s Ministry for the planning, promoting and execution of centralized women’s events.
  • Effectively deploy centralized resources for the congregation.
  • Identify and respond to unique discipleship needs within the congregation and provide additional opportunities for the assimilation, spiritual formation, mobilization and leadership development of women.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent, Bachelor’s degree, preferred
  • 2 years of experience in a teaching or ministry leadership role, or equivalent experience
  • Strong knowledge of TAS programs and ministry strategies

Administration - Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, and implement ministry programming. Integrate multiple perspectives and synthesize them into a cohesive plan. Strong ability to support multiple projects simultaneously, with dependability and excellence. Understanding of The Austin Stone’s ministry strategy and competency in application of strategies in equipping and mobilization. Able to successfully develop new and better ways to work and promote a continuous improvement mentality.

Interpersonal Skills & Communication - Teach - Energized by meeting, engaging and connecting with others. Has clarity of speech and proper use of grammar. Able to negotiate and make effective presentations to diverse groups. Able to communicate and work within a complex organizational structure with multiple layers of input. Able to teach and train in a variety of settings.

Leadership Development - Ability to lead, recruit, resource, and mobilize volunteer teams to scale. Ability to recruit, manage, and lead resident/intern teams. Proven capacity to multiply leaders (staff, deacons, volunteers, etc.) who hold and can communicate the church's values. 

Pastoral effectiveness - Desire and ability to understand and meet people where they are emotionally, spiritually, and physically. Strong grasp and alignment with The Austin Stone’s convictions in pastoral applied theology.

Collaborative Leadership - Strong complementary leadership skills and capacity to lead in concert with other leaders. Demonstrated ability to network and connect with leaders toward Kingdom outcomes. Collaborate across the organization and with various ministry partners. Cultivate purpose-driven, relational networks. Ability to work within a complex organizational structure with multiple layers of input.

  • Occasional lifting of objects up to 30 pounds.
  • Subject to standing, walking, sitting, bending, reaching, kneeling, pushing and pulling.
  • Manual dexterity and coordination are required over 50% of the work period while operating equipment such as a computer keyboard, mouse, and similar machines.
