REPORTS TO: Maintenance Director
EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Regular, full time
FLSA STATUS: Non-exempt
POSITION SUMMARY: Assist with the maintenance of the buildings, grounds and equipment owned by the Marysville School District.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Carry out work orders assigned by the Maintenance Director.
- Work orders will require skills in the following areas:
- Knowledge of Local, State, and Federal building codes
- Plumbing
- Electricity
- Energy management system
- Fire alarm systems
- Heating and air conditioning
- Reading blue prints, electrical schematics, and technical manuals
- Use computer and programs
- Public water and sewage systems
- Operate/Maintain emergency generators
- Security access system
- PA/Intercom system
- Commercial door hardware
- Kitchen equipment
- Custodial equipment
- Welding
- Carpentry
- Painting
- Vehicle maintenance
- Drive maintenance vehicles
- Playground equipment installation and repair
- Mowing and ground maintenance (including turf management, irrigation systems, and field painting equipment)
- Assist with the inspection of buildings and grounds, and report findings to the Maintenance Director.
- Identify and order needed replacement parts; submit requisitions to the Maintenance Director.
- Prepare reports and keep records, as assigned; for example, refrigerant tracking and preventive maintenance task logs.
- Assist other members of the maintenance department in making adjustments, repairs, trouble shooting and alterations.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: - Observe all safety and health regulations of the school district.
- Maintain an appropriate personal appearance. May be required to wear a uniform on the job.
- Serve as a role model in the practice of ethical principles, responsible behavior and democratic values.
- Demonstrate regular, predictable attendance, and punctuality.
- Supervise and assists Seasonal Workers employed by MEVSD.
- Hire, supervise and assist outside contractors for MEVSD.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Maintenance Director.
QUALIFICATIONS: - High School diploma or GED preferred.
- Valid Driver’s License.
- Experience working with HVAC systems.
- Minimum 8 years experience in building maintenance and repairs or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Alternative to the above qualifications as the Superintendent and/or Board of Education may find appropriate.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: - See ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS.
- Good communication skills both oral and written.
- Coordination of multiple projects and the ability to meet deadlines.
- Safe work practices.
- Good time management skills with the ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Ability to operate the equipment listed below.
EQUIPMENT OPERATED: (Not a comprehensive list) - Basic hand tools of the maintenance trade.
- Electrical meters and other electronic testing equipment.
- Power tools, such as drills, saws, chain saws, drain clearing machines.
- Welders and torches.
- Mowing equipment and other related equipment.
- Snow plows, trucks and other vehicles.
- One-man electrical lift.
- Wood working equipment.
- Other related equipment.
LICENSURE OR CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: - Universal refrigerant usage certificate.
- Certified in or knowledge of playground equipment.
WORKING CONDITIONS: - On call 24 hours per day.
- Exposure to all weather conditions.
- Some work in confined spaces, dark spaces, dirty work areas.
- Exposure to hazardous driving conditions.
- Regular requirement to lift, push, pull, carry tools and equipment up to 50 pounds.
- Regular requirement to stand, walk, sit, climb, drive, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, handle, read, speak, hear.
- Exposure to chemicals and contaminants, such as weed killers, boiler chemicals and lubricants, flammable and combustible liquids.
- Frequent use of potentially hazardous equipment; for example, platforms, ladders, scaffolding, electrically powered equipment and electrical wiring.
- Potential exposure to blood or other bodily fluids and tissue.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: - Length of Employment: One Year Limited Contract
