Responsibilities/Duties
Alberta Health Services and Primary Care Alberta are inviting applications from Family Physicians with Primary Care Obstetrics experience to join the Department of Family Medicine in the Edmonton Zone under a joint partnership with AHS and the St. Albert Low Risk Maternity Group Medical Clinic.
We run a maternity clinic with 10 Family doctors and 1 RN with extensive labor and delivery experience 4 days a week. Each physician is in charge of one 1/2 day every 1-2 weeks. We maintain care until 1-6 weeks post partum for the mom and baby. We use health quest EMR in the clinic and Connect Care when on call at the Sturgeon Community Hospital (SCH).
The Sturgeon Community Hospital is a tertiary hospital consisting of 10 family Physicians providing low risk obstetrics, 9 obstetrician/gynecologists and multiple subspecialties including on site NICU. Together the obstetrical program preforms about 3000 deliveries per year. It offers a dynamic Woman’s Health program dedicated to strengthening women’s health services - especially how they relate to teaching, clinical innovation and shared models of multi-disciplinary care. The Family Physicians who provide primary care obstetrics at the SCH belong to the St. Albert Maternity Care group - a community clinic located in the St. Albert PCN office providing compassionate, comprehensive evidence-based pregnancy and delivery care to low-risk maternity patients.
Edmonton Zone hospitals are affiliated with the University of Alberta and serve as important training facilities for residents and students. The Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry has been internationally recognized as among the world’s top 50 medical schools and as one of Canada’s premier health-education institutions.
