As an Integrated Release Manager, you will be instrumental in orchestrating application deliveries across our Retail of the Future IT landscape, seamlessly integrating them into major software releases. You will set technical standards for applications, ensuring that teams adhere to quality benchmarks and execute deployments and releases efficiently.
This role combines strategic oversight with hands-on practices to build and maintain reliable deployment and release processes. You will collaborate with Portfolio and Lifecycle Management to enable reliable releases in our various international markets. With your technical expertise, you will guide distributed product teams to comply with standards in terms of processes and tools. You will champion automated quality assurance processes to verify and maintain high standards swiftly and continuously and ensure the automated provisioning of quality information throughout the release process.
Responsibilities
Oversee the planning, coordination, and execution of software releases, ensuring timely and high-quality delivery.
Develop and maintain comprehensive software lifecycle management processes.
Work closely with development, quality assurance, operations, and program teams to ensure alignment and smooth transitions between stages.
Identify, assess, and mitigate risks associated with deployments, software releases and lifecycle processes.
Implement and promote best practices for continuous integration, continuous delivery (CI/CD), and DevOps.
Maintain detailed documentation of release processes, lifecycle stages, and related procedures.
Communicate internally (to development teams or program functions) and externally (to end-users and markets) relevant updates (e.g. planned maintenances, etc.)
Act as liason and facilitator between the teams to coordinate the implementation of systems and releases from testing
phases into the production environment, ensuring a seamless transition, stability and minimal disruption to operations.
Ensure all software releases comply with regulatory and company standards.
Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to software deployments, releases and lifecycle management.
Provide training and support to team members on release management and lifecycle processes.
Leverage SAFe principles to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of software development and release processes.
Coordinating systems and interfaces in the rollout process, hereby considering ongoing deployments, integration, and
end-to-end tests.
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Information Systems or a STEM related field.
Proven experience of 5+ years in managing IT infrastructure with a demonstrated understanding coordinating between system releases, rollout, and testing.
Knowledge about Mercedes-Benz Sales IT setup and architecture
Strong understanding of IT operations and infrastructure management, including cloud services and on-premises systems.
Strong project management skills with a proven track record of managing complex software projects.
Solid experience in the usage of Jira and Confluence.
Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines and automation tools (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, ArgoCD). version control systems (e.g., Git), and release automation tools.
Expertise with contract testing solutions (e.g., Pact.IO / Pactflow).
Proficiency in SRE practices, including monitoring, incident response, and reliability engineering.
Strong Cloud and DevOps mindset and expertise in cloud platforms (AWS preferred; Azure, or Google Cloud).
Coding, scripting and/or automation skills (e.g., Python, Bash, or Go).
Understanding of Agile methodologies, with experience in SAFe being highly desirable.
Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities to collaborate with cross functional teams, ensuring a cohesive approach to system deployment.
Extensive ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Hands-on mindset.
Fluent in English (written and spoken); German is a plus.
