Sydney Trains’ Tangara fleet makes up a quarter of our suburban rail fleet. To ensure its longevity, the Tangara Fleet Life Extension project will upgrade operating systems, modernise onboard passenger information systems, and enhance accessibility features for mobility-impaired passengers. The project will also help build our future workforce capabilities, strengthen local economies and support the long-term growth of NSW’s transportation industry.
In this role, you'll:
- Provide Engineering support to the production and prototyping phase of the Tangara Fleet Life Extension program, and assist this team in the delivery of the program within clearly defined scope, quality, time and cost constraints
- Provide technical support, including but not limited to developing/updating technical reference documentation
- Provide advisory support to the formulation of design concepts, including design solutions to issues arising during design development & redesign
This is a temporary full time opportunity x 2 (1 Mechanical & 1 Electrical) for up to 24 months and is based at Auburn & Flemington.
This role may transition to afternoon shifts, depending on production support requirements.

About you
You are a tertiary qualified engineer (Mechanical or Electrical) with experience, ideally within the rail, aviation or defence industries.
You possess well developed stakeholder management skills and have the ability to communicate with influence across both verbal and written communication.
You will have the ability to collaborate with a range of stakeholders to ensure the successful delivery of projects and their intended objectives.
