As Head of HR, you will lead the Human Resources function, building and sustaining best-in-class people practices that shape an outstanding employee experience. You will be responsible for developing programs and processes that attract, retain, and grow top talent—measured not only by capability, but also by character. This role requires a balance of strategic vision, technical expertise, and adaptability. As the company scales, you will preserve what works well while continuously evolving areas that need improvement.


 Strategic Leadership


• Develop and execute long- and short-term people strategies aligned with company goals.

• Partner with leadership to design and implement culture, performance, and retention initiatives.

• Foster a cohesive, inclusive, and high-trust work environment across departments.


 Core HR Operations


• Oversee day-to-day HR activities, including professional development, talent acquisition, benefits, payroll, performance management, onboarding, and offboarding.

• Ensure compliance with federal and state employment regulations.

• Maintain accurate organizational charts and HR systems.

• Manage HR staff.

• Facilities management.


 Employee Relations & Culture


• Create, update, and enforce employee policies, procedures, and best practices.

• Act as a trusted advisor to managers on sensitive employee issues, performance management, and employee relations.

• Support underperforming employees with coaching, training, and resources.

• Investigate complaints and promote a positive, professional work environment.

• Lead events and initiatives that strengthen company culture and community.


Compensation & Benefits


• Manage compensation platforms, salary bands, and benefits programs, ensuring competitiveness and compliance.

• Regularly benchmark against industry standards to maintain best practices.


Employee Engagement


• Conduct engagement surveys and develop action plans based on results.

• Oversee employee recognition programs, wellness initiatives, and workplace improvements.

• Build and manage the employee event calendar.


Professional Development


• Enhance training, coaching, and development opportunities.

• Evolve performance management and succession planning processes to support growth.

• Support organizational development and progressive discipline practices.


Talent Acquisition and Onboarding


• Lead recruitment strategy and execution, ensuring consistency and authenticity in the hiring process.

• Build and maintain strong talent pipelines and recruiter partnerships.

• Manage job postings, candidate evaluations, interviews, and offers in alignment with budgets and headcount.

• Oversee onboarding, ensuring a smooth and engaging new-hire experience.


Networking & Talent Sourcing


• Represent the company at job fairs and networking events.

• Leverage social media and external partnerships to source top talent.

Requirements

   

Required Skills & Qualifications


• 10+ years of HR leadership experience, preferably in consumer products or outdoor industries.

• Advanced degree strongly preferred (psychology, organizational development, general management, or related).

• Proven track record of developing and leading high-performing teams.

• High emotional intelligence, strong listening skills, and a people-first mindset.

• Strategic thinker with the ability to solve problems creatively and tactically.

• Strong communication, leadership, and relationship-building skills.

• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment.

• Willingness to travel as needed.

• Proactive, thoughtful, and grounded in both academic insight and practical innovation.
