Located in Plymouth Meeting, PA, Hickory Veterinary and Specialty Hospital is a multi-service animal hospital offering general practice, specialty services, 24/7 emergency care, boarding, grooming, daycare, and rehabilitation. As a Specialty Surgical Scrub / Appointment Nurse, you’ll work closely with one of our specialty veterinarians, providing both technical support during surgical cases and coordination for patient appointments.
In this role, you will:
- Assist with patient intake appointments and obtain complete medical histories
- Scrub in and assist the DVM during surgical procedures
- Prepare surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies
- Help ensure accurate and timely completion of charges, treatment plans, and medical records
- Support clients during consultations, providing compassionate education and updates
- Coordinate the DVM’s appointments and facilitate smooth patient flow
- Safely handle and restrain patients for exams, procedures, and diagnostics
- Collect and process lab samples; perform basic in-house testing as needed
- Obtain and process radiographs
- Assist with medication administration (oral, IM, SQ, IV) and fluid therapy
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe surgical and treatment environment
- Collaborate closely with your team to ensure seamless patient care
Anticipated Schedule
- Mondays, Thursdays, Friday: 7:00 AM - 5:00 PM
- Every other weekend (Saturday or Sunday): 8:00 AM - 6:00 PM
- $20 – $24/hr, depending on experience

Requirements
- Previous veterinary technician experience required
- Surgical experience preferred
- Excellent communication and client service abilities
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- A collaborative, compassionate attitude and willingness to learn
