What You'll Do:

As a Boiler Operator you are responsible for continual steam generation for the Wickliffe site, optimizing three boilers and additional support equipment. This position is part of a rotating-shift, 4 crew operation.

 

What We're Looking For:

  • Supports EHS (Environmental Health and Safety) performance of the department through compliance and root cause investigations 
  • Operation of high-pressure boilers
  • Operation of water treatment systems
  • Perform water chemistry analysis and sampling of process cooling towers and condensate
  • Operation of rotating equipment including pumps, motors, steam turbines and fans
  • Maintenance of boiler room equipment
  • Supports capital projects that add to or modify equipment and support systems 
  • Contributes to documentation revisions related to training, department policies and SOP (Standard Operating Procedures)
  • Works closing with supported departments to ensure efficient, safe, continuous operation is maintained
  • Provide support for continuous improvement and department initiatives 
  • Additional duties as assigned

 

Skills That Make a Difference:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Stationary Engineer’s License-3rd class min.
  • 2+ years of experience in steam plant operation
  • Understanding of water chemistry
  • Strong skills in the following areas: Teamwork, communications, dependability, problem-solving, customer focus, basic math, reading and use of computers and Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)

 

Considered a Plus:

  • First or second-class license
  • Previous chemical plant experience or knowledge of chemical hazards
  • Understanding of safety policies (i.e., Lock Out Tag Out, Hot Work, Confined Space, Working at Heights, etc.)

 

Working Conditions:

  • Seven day/wk rotating shift operation
  • Must be willing to work overtime including weekends, holidays, and call-ins
  • Able and willing to work with chemicals, nuisance odors and noise from operating area
  • Able to complete physically demanding work including kneeling and twisting
  • Ability to move material (lift truck).
  • Ability to lift up to 60 lbs.
  • Willing/able to work outdoors in inclement weather.
  • Ability to climb ladders or work in partially confined areas.
  • Maintain clean shaven appearance to allow for respirator usage.
