Summary of Position
We are seeking an experienced Process Engineer to lead and optimize injection molding operations. This role is responsible for developing, testing, and maintaining machinery and equipment while driving continuous improvement in manufacturing processes. The Process Engineer will serve as the technical expert for molding support infrastructure, including pumps, filters, chillers, heat transfer systems, air quality, and electrical systems. This position requires strong safety leadership, troubleshooting expertise, and the ability to diagnose tooling, processing, or equipment issues through root cause analysis.

Summary of Position

  • Develop and test machinery and equipment under the direction of engineering staff
  • Serve as the expert in injection molding support infrastructure, including pumps, filters, chillers, evaporative coolers, piping systems, heat transfer, air quality, compressed air, electric power supply, and related systems.
  • Act as a safety leader for all aspects of injection molding operations and general light industrial practices.
  • Demonstrate familiarity with injection molding tooling and processing, with the ability to pre-diagnose tooling, processing, or equipment problems by inspecting molded parts.
  • Possess general knowledge of plant construction and operational requirements.
     

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (other duties as assigned)

  • Create procedures and protocols for reacting to machine alarms.
  • Follow production priorities and address press alarms accordingly.
  • Stay with test runs or new tool startups unless a high-priority production tool requires immediate attention.
  • Develop standardized processes for:
    - Process adjustments
    - New tool introduction
    - Test runs
    - Molding processes
    - Converting processes to different machines
  • Standardize communication processes and expectations, including startup notifications with time, part number, tool number, and any initial issues.
  • Determine production priorities and scheduling in collaboration with the shift lead, focusing on expedited needs and test run scheduling.
     


 

Requirements

 Education and Skill Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Experience with lot number traceability, engineering-grade resins, and specification-driven processes.
  • Expertise in injection molding equipment, including specifying, upgrading, repairing, maintaining, and developing preventative maintenance (PM) systems.
  • Deep knowledge of plant injection molding auxiliary equipment, including mold water/oil heaters, hot manifold systems, screws, barrels, ceramic barrel heater bands, material drying and conveying systems, and dew-point meters.
