Description:
Teaching Assistant needed in a K-6 building to work with students to improve educational outcomes for students and to provide support within a general education classroom so that all students can become active participants within the setting.

Job Summary:

1. Provides relevant feedback with the teacher(s) regarding the child’s progress, interest levels, or challenges.
2. Assists with the organization and implementation of instructional tasks and materials as directed to support learning and the instructional process.
3. Works with individuals and small groups at the teacher’s request in review, reinforcement, enrichment, and/or expansion of skills and concepts presented.
4. Record observations of student’s behaviors and performance in accordance with the curriculum and the student’s IEP goals.
5. Log Medicaid reimbursement services.
6. Assists with various tasks such as: door duty, hall duty, recess duty.
7. Participates in in-service training programs as assigned.
8. Utilizes observation, proximity and the prompting hierarchy as directed to maximize student independence.
9. Assists in positive behavior management under the direction of the teacher and team, implementing specific behavior intervention strategies as directed to guide learners in using self-control and self-management strategies which may include physical management.
10. Utilizes confidential and personal information concerning students and staff for professional purposes only, in accordance with District procedures.
11. Assists with mobility and self-care needs of students as necessary using individual or team approach as directed by guidelines established by PT and educational team.
12. Provides any assistance needed for successful participation in specials (i.e.: art, PE, music, etc.).
13. Performs other duties and assumes other responsibilities as may be assigned.

Qualifications:
Paraprofessional Educator License with Stipulations

Working Conditions:
 6.5 hours per day (8:00 to 3:00 p.m.) Monday-Friday
