Description:
Wave is looking for a Staff Accountant to join the accounting team. This role will involve participating in the financial close process for a fully integrated, rapidly growing, publicly traded biotech company. It is a high-visibility position on a small team that will work closely with senior management. The individual will report to the Accounting Manager in a hybrid setting at our Cambridge (Alewife area), MA location.
Experience:
- Bachelors degree in Accounting or Finance; or a closely related discipline is required
- 1-3 years of experience in accounting
- Big 4 experience and CPA (or CPA track) a plus
Responsibilities:
- Reconcile cash in Oracle and prepare monthly bank account reconciliation for all cash and investment accounts
- Maintain fixed asset and depreciation schedules and make appropriate monthly GL entries
- Work with internal end users on fixed asset inquiries and put assets into service or dispose of them according to correspondence from end users on a monthly basis
- Maintain prepaids amortization schedules and make appropriate monthly GL entries
- Review monthly AP close reports
- Review monthly GL activity for any necessary reclassifications and book entries accordingly
- Record intercompany entries
- Book bi-weekly payroll entries, including benefits as well as equity transactions
- Update GL mapping in ADP as needed and create ad-hoc reports in ADP as necessary
- Maintain proper controls documentation for cash, prepaids and fixed assets and pull support for internal controls testing as needed
- Reconcile all asset, liability, and capital accounts in FloQast on a monthly and quarterly basis
- Assist in the preparation of the monthly/quarterly/annual reports
- Reconcile financial discrepancies by collecting and analyzing account information
- Assist with the consolidated annual audit and quarterly reviews
- Assist the tax team by pulling reports and performing analyses for R&D tax credit filings
- Be a backup for payroll processing to the Associate Director of Payroll and Equity Comp
- Special projects as necessary
Key Skills:
- General knowledge of accounting rules, regulations, policies, and procedures
- Proven, solid Excel skills and a good working knowledge of the MS suite of products
- Experience with large ERP system a plus (preferably Oracle Fusion)
- Experience with FloQast is a plus which is used for reconciliations and more
- Attention to detail, excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Able to handle multiple tasks and stay organized in a fast paced, deadline driven environment
