Position Overview

We are seeking a proactive and analytical Demand Planning Specialist to support our distribution operations. In this role, this person will be responsible for forecasting product demand, aligning procurement activities with customer requirements, and ensuring optimal inventory levels across our distribution network. This person will collaborate closely with procurement, warehouse operations, sales, and supplier partners to maintain the right balance between product availability, cost efficiency, and service excellence.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop accurate demand forecasts using sales data, customer insights, and market trends to drive procurement planning.
  • Translate demand forecasts into purchase plans that ensure product availability while minimizing excess stock and carrying costs.
  • Monitor inventory levels across distribution centers and recommend adjustments to replenish stock, reduce slow movers, and avoid shortages.
  • Track supplier performance to ensure on-time deliveries and escalate issues to supplier development team.
  • Identify risks within the supply chain and work with strategic and logistics to mitigate.
  • Support procurement in vendor negotiations by providing forecast visibility and demand analysis.
  • Maintain key performance indicators (KPIs) such as forecast accuracy, inventory turnover, order fulfillment rate, and stockout levels.
  • Continuously enhance planning processes and systems to improve efficiency and accuracy across the distribution network.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Logistics, or a related field (professional certifications such as APICS/CPIM a plus).
  • 3+ years of experience in demand planning, supply planning, or procurement within a distribution or wholesale environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with advanced Excel skills and experience using ERP/MRP or supply chain planning systems.
  • Solid understanding of distribution operations, supplier lead times, and inventory management principles.
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills to work effectively with procurement, sales, operations, and supplier partners.
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail in a fast-paced, customer-driven environment.
