We have an exciting Freezer Shipping Supervisor opportunity in our Guymon, OK production plant. The Freezer Shipping Supervisor is responsible for the daily oversight and supervision of the shipping and material activities of a freezer department in a processing facility harvesting over 20,000 animals and shipping over 180 loads per day. The position coordinates with production the receipt of finished products, stores and manages the inventory in the department and works with the departments team to ensure product is available for outbound shipments.  Additionally, the position works on a cross-functional team to support all warehouse goals and objectives.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Directly supervise and coordinate the activities of shipping and material handling employees consistent with Company policy.
  • Effective and clear communications with corporate Sales & scheduling teams to ensure operational efficiencies within the warehouse and to customer base for On-time delivery (OTD) success.
  • Inspects product SKU’s to verify conformance to specifications and directs workforce to handle products within these standards.
  • Studies production/shipping schedules and estimates worker hour requirements for completion of job assignment. Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production/shipping needs.
  • Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of department.
  • Develop a competent workforce by utilizing hands-on training methods in the work area
  • Maintain an effective safety awareness program, including regular departmental safety meetings. Provide timely written feedback on any injuries or accidents and make recommendations for precluding recurrence.
  • Maintain accurate records of employee work hours, vacation time and other explained or unexplained absences; when necessary, take action to correct in accordance with plant policies.
  • Communicate expectations to all employees; provide direction, instructions and feedback based on experience of employee. Follow up with appropriate recognition for good performance.
  • Develop a collaborative relationship with all departments within the organization

QUALIFICATIONS

 

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business management, supply chain, logistics or similar preferred or a minimum of three years related experience in supply chain and/or distribution.
  • Experience with Forklift, Pallet jack, and Reach truck equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before immediate supervisor or employees of organization.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office suite. Microsoft, WMS, & AS400.

 

Preferred:

  • Proficient in English, bilingual in Spanish is preferred
  • Work experience in warehouse, shipping or other related field in a high volume, fast-paced work environment is preferred.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to move around the facility. 
  • The employee must regularly lift and move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and move up to 50 pounds
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and is exposed to wet, cold and/or humid conditions.
  • Consistently working in environment ranging from +35 to -20 degrees.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually at a level where OSHA required hearing protection is required.
  • The hours and days of work are established by departmental needs and at the discretion of management. Must be available to work A or B or C shifts when needed or as assigned.
