Position Duties
- Creates and manages digital content for websites and social media.
- Coordinates public information projects and events.
- Serves as a liaison to media and community groups.
- Handles public and media inquiries.
- Monitors media coverage and emerging platforms.
- Supports internal communications and evaluates outreach efficiency.
- Assists with crisis communication, website updates, and presentations.

Minimum Qualifications
Requirements to Qualify:
A bachelor's degree or higher* from an accredited college or university with a major in Communications, Journalism, Public Administration, Public Relations, English or a closely related field -AND- two years in a staff capacity** in public relations administering a public information program -OR- professional experience*** as a journalist within a media organization.
In lieu of the bachelor's degree, one (1) additional year of the required experience will be accepted for each year of college, up to a maximum of four (4) years of additional experience.Completion of 30 semester units or 45 quarter units will be considered as one (1) year of college. The coursework will need to be reviewed for consistency with pursuing a qualifying major.

- **In the County of Los Angeles, Staff capacity is defined as work in an advisory capacity to line managers to provide program and administrative support. Work includes assisting and supporting administration by doing research, analysis, and making recommendations to line managers.
- ***Professional Experience is defined as work experience gained in a professional occupation or classification after receiving a bachelor’s degree or its equivalent.

License:
A valid California Class C Driver License or the ability to use an alternative method of transportation when needed to carry out job-related essential functions.
Some positions may require a valid California Class C Driver License to perform job-related functions.
Physical class:
Physical Class II – Light: This class includes administrative and clerical positions requiring light physical effort that may include occasional light lifting to a 10-pound limit and some bending, stooping, or squatting. Considerable ambulation may be involved.
Endorsement of County Qualifications:

Candidates must achieve a passing score of 70% or higher on Part I of the examination in order to advance to Part II.
Part II: An evaluation of training and experience, weighted at 25%, assessing:

Candidates must achieve a passing score of 70% or higher on Part II of the examination in order to advance to Part III.
Part III: A writing assessment, weighted at 20%, measuring:

Candidates must achieve a passing score of 70% or higher on Part III of the examination in order to be placed on the eligible list.
Transfer of Test Components:
- If you recently took identical components for other exams, the test responses may be automatically transferred to this examination.
- This exam contains test components that might be used on future exams, and your responses could be transferred to that exam.

Eligibility and Vacancy Information:
Candidates who pass the assessment are placed on a list in the order of their score group for six (6) months. The eligible list resulting from this examination will be used to fill vacancies within the Department of Aging and Disabilities, as they occur.
