Position Summary:

The Direct Support Professional (DSP)/Activity Lead is a key member of the Adult Day Services team, responsible for facilitating daily group activities that foster engagement, skill development, and community inclusion for participants. This role leads the planning and coordination of meaningful programs, including the development of the monthly activity calendar and newsletter, to ensure a dynamic and enriching experience. The DSP/Activity Lead also provides hands-on assistance with personal care needs, including toileting and feeding, to ensure the health, dignity, and well-being of each participant.

Essential Functions:

· Program Planning & Communication

o Develop and distribute the monthly activity calendar, newsletter, and weekly outing sheets.

o Post daily activity schedules on the activity board using visual supports.

o Prepare daily activity sheets, coordinate and maintain necessary activity supplies, and assist with purchasing supplies.

· Client Support & Goal Facilitation

o Facilitate daily group activities and implement individualized goals based on each participant’s PCISP.

o Provide personal care as assigned, including feeding, toileting, ambulation, and transfers, using client-specific training and trained safe body mechanics.

o Support meal and snack times with preparation, feeding assistance, and clean-up.

o Observe and report changes in participants’ conditions to the ADS nurse or manager.

· Community Integration

o Assist in planning and leading community outings, ensuring a safe, engaging experience.

o Drive company or personal vehicle to transport participants on trips.

· Safety & Compliance

o Conduct and record monthly fire drills.

o Maintain confidentiality and adhere to all HIPAA guidelines.

o Practice and reinforce environmental safety, infection control, and sanitation procedures.

· Team Collaboration & Documentation

o Complete accurate daily documentation of activities, goals, personal care, behaviors, and outings.

o Participate as an active member of the interdisciplinary team.

o Attend and contribute to staff meetings, in-service trainings, and client-specific trainings.

o Provide input and support to the ADS Manager and collaborate with team members to ensure high-quality care.

· Other Responsibilities

o Perform additional duties assigned to support the mission and daily operations of the Adult Day Center and Easterseals Crossroads.

Qualifications

· Experience working with adults with developmental disabilities

· Demonstrated skills in activity planning and development

· Ability to facilitate age-appropriate, functional group activities for adults

· Proficiency in Canva for creating flyers, visuals, and program materials

· Experience developing newsletters or similar written communications

· Strong professional communication skills, including email correspondence

Education, Licenses, or Certifications

· High school diploma or equivalency required

· Valid Driver’s License and proof of auto insurance required

· Current negative TB screening required

· Current First Aid and CPR certification (preferred)

· Safety Care Certification (preferred
