Job Summary:
The Business Development Representative (BDR) will be a key member of the Abacus Sales team, reporting to the East Coast Sales Management team. This individual will be responsible for engaging with current and prospective clients to generate and qualify leads, promote Abacus’ services, and identify sales opportunities. The BDR must be able to clearly and persuasively communicate Abacus Group’s value proposition, offerings, and capabilities, while effectively evaluating the quality of leads and determining how best to route them within the broader sales organization. Additionally, the BDR should be adaptable, proactive, and eager to contribute to continuous process improvements—including refining pitch materials, building targeted contact lists, and supporting the overall go-to-market strategy.
Responsibilities (including but not limited to):
- Contact current or potential customers to promote products or services via outbound phone calls and emails
- Explain products or services and answer questions from customers and prospects.
- Maintain records of customer accounts and contacts via Salesforce: Record names, addresses, purchases, and reactions of prospects contacted.
- Identify and research potential customers in the financial services industry, including hedge funds, private equity firms, and asset managers.
- Adjust sales scripts to better target the needs and interests of specific individuals.
- Answer telephone calls from potential customers.
- Schedule meetings for sales representatives to meet with prospective customers or for customers to attend sales presentations.
- Manage the execution of end-to-end outbound campaigns, including:
- Building and vetting contact lists through platforms like ZoomInfo, Pitchbook, etc.
- Structuring and launching multi-touch campaigns across email, phone, and LinkedIn
- Using AI tooling to support personalization, targeting, and efficiency at scale
- Uploading and managing campaigns in Salesforce and/or HubSpot
- Monitoring campaign results and iterating based on performance and feedback
Skills:
- Clear and concise written and verbal communication for engaging leads professionally.
- Confidence in initiating conversations with potential leads via phone, email, and LinkedIn.
- Ability to work closely with the sales and marketing teams to align lead generation efforts with broader goals.
- A customer-centric mindset for building rapport with potential clients.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Experience in client services or sales support role a plus
- Experience in various outbound outreach methods
- Ability to commute to NYC office on a hybrid basis
- Experience in selling to or understanding of the financial service industry and specifically the alternative investment industry (Hedge Funds, Private Equity, Asset Managers)
- Experience with ZoomInfo, HubSpot, and Salesforce is not required but is strongly preferred.

Salary: 65-75k base salary + commission
