JOB SUMMARY:  In this role, you will help sustain Mennel’s tradition of excellence established in 1886 as well as support our food safety programs and mission to reliably deliver superior quality, uniformity, and service. 

As a key member of our HR team, you’ll lead full-cycle recruiting efforts across corporate, plant, and field roles, partnering closely with hiring managers to ensure we bring in talent that aligns with our values, work ethic, and long-term vision.  

 

PRIMARY WORK SHIFT:  

Typical work hours are Monday through Friday 8AM – 5PM. Hours may vary depending on workload. 


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily with or without accommodation.  

  • Follow all food and personal safety rules and regulations in respect to GMP’s, OSHA, HACCP, the Global Food Safety Initiative, the US FDA Food Safety Modernization Act as stated in the FS&Q Statement, and sanitation guidelines as set forth by the company as listed in Corporate Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) and attend all required training sessions. Maintain the department/facility in an everyday audit ready condition.
  • Lead full-cycle recruitment for a variety of roles, mainly salary – level positions including operations, technical, sales, and leadership positions. 
  • Build strong relationships with hiring managers to understand team needs, role requirements, and cultural fit. 
  • Work with the Talent Specialist to develop sourcing strategies tailored to the grain and food manufacturing industry, including outreach to passive candidates and community-based recruiting. 
  • Assist the Talent Specialist with representing the company at industry events, job fairs, and local workforce development initiatives. 
  • Write and post engaging job requisitions describing our roles that reflect our company’s voice and values. 
  • Pre-screen resumes and conduct thoughtful candidate interviews that assess both skill and fit. 
  • Coordinate interview logistics and support hiring managers in decision-making. 
  • Maintain accurate records in our applicant tracking system (ATS) and ensure compliance with employment laws and internal policies. 
  • Support employer branding efforts by sharing our story and culture with candidates and the community. 
  • Track and report on recruiting metrics to inform continuous improvement. 
  • Other duties may be assigned.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

This position has no supervisory duties. 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:  

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required to perform this job.  

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience). 
  • 5+ years of full-cycle recruiting experience, preferably in manufacturing, food production, or agriculture-related industries. 
  • Proven ability to recruit for a wide range of roles, from hourly plant positions to senior leadership. 
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a warm and approachable style. 
  • Experience with ATS platforms and HR systems; familiarity with ADP or similar systems is a plus. 
  • Knowledge of employment law and compliance practices. 
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating across teams. 
  • Passion for building relationships and helping people find meaningful work. 

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS: 

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, memos, procedures and plans. Ability to write, complete checklists and other basic documentation and correspondence. Ability to effectively present information or data in one-on-one and small group situations to co-workers, supervisors, and managers. 

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:  

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. 

 

REASONING ABILITY: 

Must use solid judgment when making decisions. Must have ability to quickly recognize and plan for changing work duties and events.
