POSITION SUMMARY: The Commercial Loan Assistant I position is primarily responsible for providing administrative support to Lenders and Portfolio Managers. The position helps harbor a collaborative relationship with the Commercial Lenders and/or Portfolio Managers to ensure the timely preparation and execution of the banks loans as well as providing excellent customer service during client interactions. Works very closely under the direction of the manager or assigned Portfolio Manager to set priorities and ensure completion of work.
RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Works closely with manager or assigned Portfolio Manager to maintain, monitor and service assigned commercial loan accounts. Trains to process customer transactions on a daily basis (i.e. – wire transactions, telephone transfers, address changes, loan payments, and other related transactions) once proper approvals have been obtained. Provides highest level of customer service to ensure customer satisfaction by working with customers to resolve any problems thru research and communication with the other departments of the bank.
• Assists with commercial and real estate loan files by learning to properly document file and review loan documents to meet deadlines established by lending team. Will provide quality control by auditing the files to ensure all required documentation is included, verify accuracy of information, obtain missing documentation, signatures, dates and other relevant data. Submits loan files for booking once the loan has closed. Works within bank policy to ensure all guidelines and policies are followed.
• Orders appraisals, credit reports, title reports, flood determinations, Environmental Data Reports (EDR), UCC searches, Geo-codes, or other documents as required depending on the loan type.
• Works loan exceptions for Lending team, communicate with borrowers as needed, i.e. requesting updated financials or other documents required to update loan file.
• Respond to customer inquiries concerning loan advance requests by following bank policy or obtaining approval from Manager, Portfolio Manager or Lender
• Monitors incoming phone calls, greeting and assisting customers. Performs general administrative duties including typing routine correspondence, memorandums, letters, forms, etc.
• Monitors past due loans, overdrawn deposit accounts, and when necessary, contact customers by mail, telephone, or email to request a payment or deposit.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge/Skill/Ability
• Ability to learn and understand lending terminology, documents, products and services.
• Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills and the ability to handle customer issues and resolve issues with patience and tact.
• Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment and discretion. Ability to maintain the highest level of confidentiality.
• Adaptability – ability to adapt to fast pace and rapid changes. Ability to juggle multiple tasks and handle unexpected delays or events while maintaining constant attention to detail.
• Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
• High level of dependability regarding attendance, punctuality and completing assignments in a timely manner.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, such as word and excel.
Equivalent Education/Experience
• High school diploma or equivalent is required; some college is preferred but not required.
• Minimum of 1 year of recent experience with loan administration in a financial institution.
Preferred Experience/Qualifications
• Experience with Laser Pro Documents
