GENERAL PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
The Advanced Planning Strategist is an integral resource within the sales organization to consult with wholesalers and financial advisors on advanced planning topics such as retirement planning, qualified plans, tax, estates, charitable planning, trusts, asset protection, income planning, Medicare, and Social Security. This individual has an expert level of knowledge that translates complex financial planning topics to easy-to-understand material that helps the sales organization promote the role of annuities within financial plans.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Creates content and material for internal sales training that focuses on product and advanced planning subject matter.
- Assists in originating sales material for our wholesalers and distribution partners such as case studies, power point presentations, thought leadership articles and collateral by working with marketing, tax, and legal/compliance.
- Originates and curates continuing education material/presentations that can be delivered at partner firm and industry meetings with focus on advanced sales, product or regulatory matters.
- Partners with wholesalers, national accounts, and marketing to develop value-added content that will increase production and enhance and retain business partner relationships.
- Consistently monitors legislation, acts, and mandates to subsequently educate our sales teams on annuity positioning strategies.
- Develops and conducts in person and virtual presentations on advanced sales topics.
- Provides best-in-class service by promptly and accurately answering inquiries from both our distribution partners as well as our wholesalers.
- Manages projects in accordance with established schedule and timelines. Informs leadership of issues/potential issues.
- Performs other related work as assigned.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business administration or other related field of study; plus six (6) years of related experience in advanced sales, product marketing, or product training; or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
- Experience working with bank and broker dealer firms.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, PROFESSIONAL DESIGNATIONS:
- JD degree, CPA license, and/or CFP, CLU, ChFC, RMA, RICP designations strongly preferred.
- Series 6, 7, 63, preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Effective verbal and written communication skills with ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups.
- Outstanding customer service orientation with strong interpersonal skills.
- Strong analytical, problem solving, verbal and written communication skills, sales, and influence skills.
- Project management skills with ability to prioritize and organize tasks, work on different assignments simultaneously and meet deadlines.
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications and other software.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
- Ability to work independently and make decisions within established guidelines.
- Team oriented with ability to work with team members in other departments as well as external partners.
- Ability to work cooperatively and successfully with employees, customers, and other outside third parties.
- Ability to successfully handle pressure and meet deadlines in a fast-paced work environment.
- Ability to travel up to 50% of the time.
