Junior Electrical Engineer – Automation
Position Overview
Join CAM IntegratedSolutions’ engineering team in Houston as a Junior Electrical Engineer. Underthe mentorship of senior engineers, you'll support design and execution ofelectrical projects—low-voltage (LV) and medium-voltage (MV) systems—withinsectors like oil & gas, utilities, and clean energy.
Company Overview: CAM offers EPCM services—from concept through construction—for onshore energy infrastructure, including engineering, automation & controls, fabrication, and more.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in designing LV and MV electrical power systems, including drafting one-line diagrams and conducting load studies.
- Learn to use industry-standard software tools such as ETAP and SKM.
- Support documentation efforts: create IFC (Issued for Construction) packages, vendor documentation, and technical deliverables under guidance.
- Aid in site support functions, including field visits, design reviews, PHA/HAZOP participation, and client communications.
- Work collaboratively across disciplines to ensure quality, code compliance (e.g., NEC, NESC, API, IEEE), and schedule adherence.
- Troubleshoot basic electrical issues and coordinate with vendors and designers to resolve discrepancies.
- Contribute to continuing education and professional development initiatives.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution.
- Strong foundational knowledge of electrical systems and standards (NEC, NESC, NFPA, API, IEEE).
- Familiarity with—or strong interest in learning—ETAP and SKM software.
- Excellent communication skills and aptitude for team collaboration.
- Basic technical documentation and drafting skills.
- Local to Houston area and eligible to work in the U.S.
Preferred Experience / Attributes
(Not required, but an advantage)
- Internships or academic experience in related industries (oil & gas, utilities, energy).
- Exposure to field commissioning, site inspections, or control room environments.
- Familiarity with project sequencing, scheduling, or deliverable tracking.
- Professional Engineer (PE) track or interest in pursuing licensure in the future.
