Global Steering Systems, LLC (“GSS”) a subsidiary of Neapco, is a high-volume global manufacturer of automotive components, primarily intermediate shafts. We supply our products to the world’s leading auto manufacturers. We are a global company with international manufacturing facilities located in China, Poland and have over 300 employees working in our 180,000-square foot Watertown location. GSS is currently seeking to fill the full-time position of Plant Controller. This position will report to the GSS President based out of our Farmington Hills, Michigan, Global Headquarters. This position may be based out of either the GSS Watertown CT facility. 

Job Description:         Global Steering Systems (GSS) Plant Controller

Responsibilities:

  • True business partner with plant management team and staff, including full transparency to metrics and results with the ability to construct stretch objectives to further increase business value, acting as the Plant CFO
  • Ensure strong accounting and control environment
  • Drive standardization and best financial practices for manufacturing facility
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and direction to plant finance and accounting team and provide guidance on financial related topics to other functional areas
  • Lead annual budget and long-range plan process for location
  • Oversee capital forecast and long-range plan, ensuring all investments meet required metrics with strong focus on spending timing
  • Drive culture of transparency of operational results, enabling focus to increase from “what happened” to “what is going to happen”
  • Ensure receivables, payables, and payroll are processed timely, interfacing as appropriate with corporate shared services team
  • Ensure compliance to all Neapco policies
  • Remain current and aware of external influences impacting the organization
  • Perform other duties as assigned

 

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 7-10 years of progressive accounting/finance-related experience, with at least 5 years in a management role
  • Prior experience in Automotive or Plant Manufacturing finance preferred
  • Knowledge of Automotive Manufacturing operations
  • Strong knowledge of operations finance including product costing, manufacturing efficiencies (labor, scrap, quality, overhead, etc.), labor cost analysis, scrap metrics, materials tracking, product profitability calculations, make versus buy analyses, and product mix impact on the business
  • Desire to be a true business partner with operational leadership
  • Strong experience in coaching and developing plant finance teams
  • Strong focus on developing a culture structured around teamwork
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization
  • Demonstrated ability in development of standardized processes and procedures
  • Knowledge of ERP systems, including how to utilize technology for maximum efficiency
  • Experience thriving in a matrix, cross functional environment
  • Extreme attention to detail, ability to multi-task and prioritize to meet deadlines, as well as, standard requirements

 

 

Education and Experience:

•              Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance required, Master’s Degree preferred.
