NSF is seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Lab Manager – Organics/Inorganics to lead our organics/Inorganics laboratory team. This role is pivotal in driving operational excellence, ensuring regulatory compliance, and fostering a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement. The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership, technical expertise, and strategic vision to support NSF’s mission of protecting and improving human health.
Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Oversight
- Lead and manage the organics laboratory team, including supervisors and analysts.
- Teach, coach, and mentor the management team to build leadership capacity.
- Foster a high-performance culture focused on accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Champion a culture of safety, quality, and innovation across all lab operations.
Operational Efficiency
- Streamline workflows and implement Lean methodologies to reduce waste and improve throughput.
- Monitor and optimize turnaround time (TAT) without compromising data quality.
- Identify and eliminate bottlenecks in sample flow and analytical processes.
Productivity Enhancement
- Develop and track key performance indicators (KPIs) related to output, resource utilization, and cost-effectiveness.
- Implement automation and digital tools to enhance sample tracking, data analysis, and reporting.
- Coordinate with procurement and inventory teams to ensure uninterrupted laboratory performance.
Technical Oversight
- Oversee the development, validation, and implementation of analytical methods.
- Ensure compliance with NSF/ANSI standards, EPA methods, and ISO 17025 accreditation requirements.
- Troubleshoot complex analytical issues and lead root cause investigations as needed.
Quality & Compliance
- Maintain rigorous quality control and assurance practices to ensure data integrity and regulatory compliance.
- Support internal and external audits and inspections.
- Drive corrective actions and continuous quality improvement initiatives.
Strategic Planning & Reporting
- Collaborate with senior leadership to align lab operations with NSF’s strategic goals.
- Prepare operational reports, forecasts, and resource plans.
- Support business development by contributing to proposals, client meetings, and service expansion strategies.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemistry, Environmental Science, or related field (Ph.D. preferred).
- Minimum of 7–10 years of experience in analytical laboratory management, with a focus on organic chemistry.
- Proven leadership experience in a high-throughput laboratory environment.
- Strong knowledge of EPA methods, NSF/ANSI standards, and ISO 17025 requirements.
- Experience with Lean, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
