- Obtain necessary background medical information on each student and maintain an ongoing communication link with medical personnel as necessary.
- Provide individual assessment of students referred.
- Develop goals based on assessment to enhance motor development and/or prevent secondary problems and/or to enhance classroom function.
- Attend conferences necessary to assist in the development of the IEP.
- Develop plans to implement therapy goals, assist in the development of the IEP and attend and assist in the conferences.
- Interpret occupational therapy assessment, goals, and program to parents and school personnel.
- Carry out occupational therapy program and assist parents and teachers in modifying environments and in providing appropriate activities or techniques.
- Determine, recommend, and oversee equipment and architectural modifications, which allow students to function more independently.
- Document student progress and maintain appropriate data/records pertaining to occupational therapy services.
- Maintain regular attendance.
- Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory to instructional program.
- Ability to plan and implement lessons based on division and school objectives and the needs and abilities of students to whom assigned.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, peers, parents and community.
- Ability to speak clearly and concisely in written or oral communication.
