Performance Video Editor — Contract (Contract-to-Hire, 20 hrs/wk) presso BodySpec
BodySpec · Austin, Stati Uniti d'America · Hybrid
- Professional
- Ufficio in Austin
Are you tired of junior editing roles that hand you footage and shrug while asking for “more tests”? As a Performance Video Editor at BodySpec, you’ll own turning raw footage into short-form ad creative that actually performs. No hand-holding, no vague feedback cycles — we’ll train you on our brand, throughput expectations, and QC process, and you’ll be expected to deliver fast, clean, conversion-focused edits that require fewer revisions over time. You’ll also be an active creative partner: expect to engage in creative discussions, propose directions, and contribute to concept-level decisions.
Full-time: $66,000 base + up to $10,620 in bonuses + benefits.
(Breakdown: performance bonus up to 7% = $4,620 - half cash, half options; team revenue bonus up to $6,000.)
Contract pay while we evaluate: $35 / hour, month-to-month contracts, 20 hours/week (approx $1,400 / biweekly or $3,030 / month at 20 hrs/wk). Contract-to-hire conversion only if both parties agree after the evaluation period.
Top 3 outcomes we expect in the first 6–12 months
- Consistently hit agreed throughput targets for short-form ad assets.
- Rapidly learn and embody the brand voice so revisions drop significantly.
- Own quality control — deliver ad assets with negligible technical or compliance issues.
You’ll Love This Job If You Have:
- A no-nonsense focus on output: you value speed and reliable quality over endless tinkering.
- Creative drive: you want to participate in creative direction, suggest creative tests, and influence the look/feel of our paid social creative.
- Creative flexibility: you can switch styles between raw, documentary UGC, polished brand spots, and quick-test verticals without losing pacing or hook.
- Desire to be coached: you’ll be taught our throughput and QC approach and expected to implement and improve it.
- Thick skin for direct feedback — you’ll get blunt, actionable direction and are expected to act on it.
- Bias for both systems and craft: you use practical checklists and processes to guarantee publish-ready assets and know when a creative risk is worth taking.
What Will You Do?
- Take raw footage and direction from the marketing team and deliver multiple short-form ad variants (15–60s) optimized for social channels.
- Participate in creative brief discussions and propose edit directions, pacing, and hooks — be an active creative partner, not just a button-pusher.
- Hit predictable throughput targets while preserving space for creative choices that improve CTR/engagement.
- Apply and help refine a practical QC checklist on each deliverable — concrete technical and compliance gates so assets publish without rework.
- Rapidly iterate on feedback: learn the brand voice and reduce revision cycles, while also proposing and executing creative A/B variations.
- Maintain organized source & final asset libraries annotated with creative notes and performance context.
- Be available for in-person onboarding and initial work in Austin; otherwise hybrid remote work.
Requirements (output & process focused)
- Portfolio with short-form ad examples (TikTok/IG/YT shorts, 15–60s ads) — required. Include at least 3 recent examples and one set showing multiple assets from the same shoot (to demonstrate throughput).
- Demonstrated ability to produce multiple deliverables on tight timelines — give concrete examples.
- Evidence of creative contribution — past examples where your edit or creative suggestion materially improved an asset.
- Strong quality control discipline — examples of catching/preventing publish-ready errors.
- Comfortable following practical checklists and quality gates — and improving them when they block good creative work.
- Able to switch quickly between structured throughput work and open-ended creative edits without losing speed.
- Coachable and willing to be trained on BodySpec’s throughput/QC systems.
- Standardized Test Scores: If you’ve taken any standardized tests such as the SAT, ACT, ASVAB, or others, we request you to share your scores. This is not a requirement and will not be a sole determining factor for hiring decisions, but it helps us learn more about our candidates since we do not conduct pre-employment testing.
- Able to commit to 20 hrs/week during contract months and be available in Austin for onboarding/initial work.
- Contract-to-hire: candidate must be open to converting to FT only if both parties agree after the evaluation period.
