Job Summary:

The Department of Social Sciences at Southwestern Oklahoma State University (SWOSU) invites applications for a tenure track position as an Assistant Professor of Early World History at the Weatherford campus.

 

Description of Job Duties:

The successful candidate will teach courses in Modern World History beginning with the Age of Exploration through the 20th century.  Teaching responsibilities include teaching General Education courses both online and in-person in Modern World History and World Cultural Geography as well as upper division courses.  The field and area of study is open, but preference will be given to candidates with the ability to teach Early Modern Europe, 20th Century World History, The Great War, and World War II.

 

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  1. Teaching assignments mentioned above
  2. Maintaining weekly office hours appropriate to course load
  3. Participating in early grade alert systems and assessing student outcomes
  4. Participating in departmental assessment
  5. Advising students and supporting student activities
  6. Continuing professional development

Education and Experience

Education and Experience

  1. A Ph.D. in European/World History is required. Advanced “All But Dissertation” with an established dissertation defense date will also be considered.
  2. Prior teaching experience at the collegiate level is preferred.
  3. Technological competence and experience in the LMS Canvas is preferred. All faculty are expected to maintain a Canvas site for each course and gain a working knowledge of the Colleague system.
