AI/ML Ops Engineer* presso 3M

Job Description:

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including data scientists, data engineers, product managers, and Supply Chain SMEs to develop and implement AI/ML solutions which solve problems and surface insights
• Work on projects that span all aspects of supply chain operations and leverage machine learning, Generative AI, data mining, statistical, and/or other analytics strategies
• Create scalable, production-ready real-time and batch ML solutions, taking algorithms from initial concept through to deployed systems
• Optimize the performance and scalability of machine learning models
• Stay up-to-date on the latest advancements in the fields of machine learning and data science to ensure that we stay at the cutting edge of industry practices
• Build strong working relationships and communicate effectively with leaders and colleagues

Your Skills and Expertise 

To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications: 

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, or Engineering (Completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution
• Two (2) years of on-the-job experience deploying machine learning capabilities in a cloud-based environment, with a track record of delivering impactful results in a private, public, government or military environment
• One (1) year of experience in software design and development using Python or other languages such as Scala, Java, C++, or C#

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include: 

• Master’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, or related field
• Experience in the architecture, design, and building large-scale machine learning applications in the cloud, preferably in AWS
• Familiarity with automated code and model deployment practices and tools
• Hands-on experience with machine learning algorithms and frameworks
• Expertise in one or more of the following applied fields: Transformers, Large Language Models, LLM evaluation, Knowledge Graphs
• Strong collaboration skills, including working with cross functional teams and a track record of educating and learning from coworkers
• Great interpersonal skills, including strong written and verbal communication

Work location: This role follows an on-site working model, requiring the employee to work at least four days a week at the 3M Center in Maplewood, MN. 

Travel: May include up to 10% domestic/international

Relocation: May be authorized

Applicable to US Applicants Only:The expected compensation range for this position is $98,413 - $120,282, which includes base pay plus variable incentive pay, if eligible. This range represents a good faith estimate for this position. The specific compensation offered to a candidate may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s relevant knowledge, training, skills, work location, and/or experience.
