The City of Clayton is seeking a Planning Technician. As part of the Planning Division, you have the advantage of partnering with the community from a municipality leader in the metropolitan area and the opportunity to contribute to the overall success of the local community. As the Planning Technician, you will have a vital role that works closely with the Director of Planning and Development that provides technical and administrative support to the Planning Department. The ideal candidate should have prior experience in the construction and/or permitting processes, in addition to knowledgeable experience in computer mapping programs such as GIS or site plan review software with considerable attention to the customer service experience of assisting residents and contractors with processes and procedures. Minimum Qualifications for the Planning Technician Position:
- Associates degree in a related field such as planning, construction, geography, or sustainability
- Two (2) years of related development or planning work experience which demonstrates significant knowledge of the principles of City planning, zoning administration and general office procedures.
- Proficiency with computers and software including Microsoft Office Suite and the ability to learn software applications utilized by the department including permitting systems.
