Our school district is seeking Health Office Aides at our Centre City and Sewell Schools. Employment is for 5.95 hours per day, Monday through Friday, at a rate of $15.49 per hour.
NATURE AND SCOPE OF JOB:
The Health Office Aide provides support in the school health office by assisting with basic office functions, clerical tasks, and student care, ensuring full efficiency in the school’s health office.
QUALIFICATIONS:
The Health Office Aide shall:
- Have graduated from High School or have possession of an approved High School Equivalent Certificate
- Previous experience in a health care, childcare, or school setting preferred
- Knowledge of basic computer skills, i.e. Microsoft Office, Google software, and general clerical abilities
- Possess current CPR/First Aid certification or be willing to obtain.
- Have the ability to follow written and oral instructions.
- Have the ability to establish and maintain accurate records and files.
- Have the ability to read, write, speak, understand, and communicate in English sufficiently to perform duties of this position. American Sign Language or Braille may also be considered as acceptable forms of communication.
- Have excellent integrity and demonstrate good moral character and initiative.
- Exhibit a personality that demonstrates enthusiasm and interpersonal skills to relate well with students, staff, administration, parents and the community, including difficult and emotional situations.
- Provide proof of U. S. citizenship or legal resident alien status by completing Federal Form I-9 in compliance with the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986.
- Provide evidence that a criminal record history check has been conducted and clearance has been given by the Department of Education.
- Provide evidence that health is adequate to fulfill the job functions and responsibilities with reasonable accommodation pursuant to 42 U.S.C. 12101 and in accordance with N.J.A.C. 6A:32-6.1 et seq.
- Meet such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable.
JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Health Office Aide shall:
- Provide first aid for minor injuries (e.g. scrapes, bumps, nosebleeds) following established protocols
- Assist with monitoring students who are ill or injured until the nurse or parent/guardian is available
- Schedule and perform delegated health care tasks as permitted by state regulations and school policy such as taking temperature, height/weight checks, vision/hearing screenings
- Uphold confidentiality and comply with FERPA and HIPAA regulations
- Participate in training provided by the school nurse such as medication administration procedures, emergency response, CPR/first aid
- Answer incoming telephone calls and call parents when appropriate
- Maintain bulletin board and health education resource information
- Set up testing equipment when needed and store equipment when finished
- Schedule appointments for parents, teachers, and pupil conferences
- Process office correspondence and filing, assist in general clerical duties
- Distribute flyers and notices
- Review health records, obtain information for school nurse
- Maintain an inventory of standard supplies and restock as needed
- Perform all other duties as assigned by the school nurse and/or principal
