Duties
DUTY 1: Performs developmental of moderate difficult in computer architectural work assignments utilizing computer science and engineering techniques to develops skills in planning, implementing, and coordinating the computing architectural efforts through the introduction to the phases of the software and system life cycle in accordance with accepted Computer Science practices. With guidance from the supervisor, represents and presents own work to team members. DUTY 2 Performs recurring technical assignments to defined security standards where few problems are expected to arise with guidance from supervisor, implements software development solutions based on existing implementation plans developed in concert with SMEs. Gains experience in a joint environment, learning cyber security concepts regarding vulnerability management and safeguards for software systems in accordance with implementation plans and standard operating procedures. DUTY 3 Performs software and system development and troubleshooting as directed by the supervisor or team lead. Develops experience in unified computing systems, integrated data infrastructures, system frameworks, and software architectures. With guidance from the supervisor or team lead, reviews software or system requirements and develops a plan for implementation. Participates in research, special studies and projects. DUTY 4 Reviews current status information pertinent to software and system efforts and their associated plans and schedules. Participates as part of the technical team involved with the computer engineering, computer science, implementation, and test of these programs, projects, and technologies. Participates in technical reviews to evaluate technical efforts related to own work. Prepares written correspondence and other documentation.
Qualifications
BASIC REQUIREMENTS: A bachelor's degree in operations research; or at least 24 semester hours in a combination of operations research, mathematics, probability, statistics, mathematical logic, science, or subject-matter courses requiring substantial competence in college-level mathematics or statistics. At least 3 of the 24 semester hours must have been in calculus. You may qualify if you meet one of the following: 1. GS-7: You must have completed or will complete a 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor's from an accredited institution AND must have documented Superior Academic Achievement (SAA) at the undergraduate level in one of the following: a) Class standing-upper third of the graduating class based on completed courses in the college, university, or major subdivision. b) Grade Point Average 2.95 or higher out of a possible 4.0 as recorded on your official transcript or as computed based on 4 years of education or as computed based on courses completed during the final 2 years of curriculum; OR 3.45 or higher out of a possible 4.0 based on the average of the required courses completed in your major field or the required courses in your major field completed during the final 2 years of your curriculum. c) Election to membership in a national scholastic honor society (note: freshman honor society cannot be used to meet the requirements of this position). (Submit a copy of your transcript, a degree audit will not be accepted) If qualifying based on class standing or honor society membership, provide appropriate documentation. OR 2. GS-9: You must have completed 2 years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a master's degree or equivalent graduate degree: a) Grade Point Average - 2.95 or higher out of a possible 4.0 as recorded on your official transcript or as computed based on 4 years of education or as computed based on courses completed during the final 2 years of curriculum; OR 3.45 or higher out of a possible 4.0 based on the average of the required courses completed in your major field or the required courses in your major field completed during the final 2 years of your curriculum. If more than 10 percent of total undergraduate credit hours are non-graded, i.e. pass/fail, CLEP, CCAF, DANTES, military credit, etc. you cannot qualify based on GPA. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: 1. Professional operations research knowledge to apply scientific methods and techniques to analyze systems, process and/or operational problems and procedures. 2. Ability to analyze, interpret and apply operations research rules and procedures in a variety of situations and recommend effective solutions to senior analysts. 3. Ability to perform extensive inquiry into basic data to discover facts or fundamental relationships. 4. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. 5. Knowledge of computer operations and standard software applications. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
