Disaster Recovery System Analyst

A Disaster Recovery Analyst at Atmus is tasked with creating, maintaining, and testing comprehensive plans for restoring IT operations and business functions after disruption. This role is both technical and strategic, bridging the gap between risk management, IT, and business continuity planning.

Responsibilities

  • Developing and Maintaining DR Plans: The DR Analyst designs, documents, and regularly updates disaster recovery strategies and procedures. These plans address every aspect of system recovery, from data restoration to hardware procurement, and are tailored to Atmus’s unique operational needs.
  • Risk Assessment and Impact Analysis: Conducting Business Impact Analyses (BIA) and risk assessments is central to the role. This involves identifying critical systems, evaluating potential threats, and estimating the potential impact of outages on business operations, revenue, and reputation.
  • Coordination and Communication: The DR Analyst serves as a focal point for cross-departmental collaboration, ensuring that all stakeholders—from IT to executive leadership—are aware of their responsibilities in the event of a disaster. This includes developing clear communication protocols for both internal teams and external vendors.
  • Testing and Validation: DR plans are only as effective as their execution. The analyst organizes and conducts regular tests—such as tabletop exercises and full-scale simulations—to validate recovery processes, identify gaps, and drive continuous improvement.
  • Documentation and Compliance: Accurate and up-to-date documentation is essential for compliance with industry regulations and internal policies. The DR Analyst ensures that all recovery procedures, test results, and improvement plans are meticulously recorded and easily accessible.
  • Incident Response Support: In the event of an actual disruption, the analyst participates in incident response efforts, guiding the organization through the recovery process, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring a timely return to operational normalcy.
  • Training and Awareness: The DR Analyst develops and delivers training for staff, building a culture of preparedness and ensuring that all personnel understand their roles during a disaster.
