Position Summary

The Second Shift Lead plays a critical role in overseeing production operations during the evening shift (3pm-11pm). This position is responsible for coordinating team members, ensuring production goals are met, and maintaining quality and safety standards. In addition to leadership responsibilities, the Second Shift Lead will be trained to operate key equipment, including the Kornit Apollo, Atlas, M&R Diamondback, and miscellaneous folding/finishing equipment, to ensure smooth shift operations and coverage when needed.

Key Responsibilities

Shift Leadership & Coordination

• Supervise and support production with 6-8 team members on the second shift, ensuring adherence to schedules, productivity goals, and quality standards.
• Communicate priorities and job assignments clearly, adjusting as needed to meet deadlines.
• Serve as the point of contact for escalation of production issues during the shift.
• Provide feedback and coaching to staff to maintain a positive, efficient, and safety-focused work environment.
• Report shift performance, production data, and any significant issues to the Operations Manager.

Production Oversight

• Ensure production orders are executed according to specifications, timelines, and quality requirements.
• Collaborate with Ops, QC, and finishing departments to resolve bottlenecks and maintain workflow.
• Enforce proper machine operation, cleanliness, and preventive maintenance practices.
• Monitor materials, supplies, and consumables, escalating shortages or issues promptly.

Hands-On Equipment Operation

• Train staff to use and be proficient in operating the Kornit Apollo, Atlas, M&R Diamondback, and folding/finishing equipment.
• Step in to operate machines when staff are absent, during training periods, or to help meet production demands.
• Perform basic troubleshooting and escalate technical issues when necessary.
• Follow safety procedures and maintain high standards of machine care and cleanliness.

Quality & Safety

• Enforce quality standards through regular checks and collaboration with the QC team.
• Promote and ensure compliance with all safety policies and procedures.
• Support a culture of continuous improvement by identifying process inefficiencies and suggesting solutions. 

Requirements

Qualifications

• 1–2      years of experience in a production, manufacturing, or printing environment.
• Prior leadership experience (team lead, shift lead, or similar role) preferred.
• Willingness to learn and operate specialized printing equipment.
• Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work evenings and manage a diverse team.
• Detail-oriented, safety-conscious, and adaptable to changing priorities.

Education & Experience:

• High school diploma or GED (General Education Degree); and
• Minimum of 1–3 years related experience and/or training; or
• An equivalent combination of experience and education in a manufacturing or warehouse environment.

Compensation & Schedule

• Full-time, second shift position (3pm-11pm)
• $24/hr with shift differential.
• Benefits package including health, dental, vision, and PTO.
