Position Duties
Conduct a comprehensive assessment, following Wisconsin Statute 48, 938 and Wisconsin CPS Access and Initial Assessment Standards. Assess, develop, implement, evaluate, and terminate service plans.
Develop, implement and provide evidence-based, family-focused services to children, youth, and their families with varied disabilities and functional levels.
Provide case management of children, youth, and their families under court ordered and voluntary services for assigned caseload, including face-to-face contacts in the home or community.
Receive and document reports of alleged maltreatment from the community, identify families that the CPS system must respond to, determine the urgency of the response time, and initiate an assessment of child safety and family strengths.
Coordinate and monitor services with court-related responsibilities and expectations. Prepare court documentation and provide testimony in court.
Assess and refer children for any out of home care needs. Work cooperatively with out of home care providers.
Collaborate and consult with community agencies and individuals in order to provide needed services and support.
Provide after-hours, weekend, and holiday coverage to Child Protective Services (CPS) and Juvenile Court Intake (JCI) services, as assigned.
Provide crisis intervention and referral services to victims, alleged perpetrators, and their family members for the purpose of improving personal, emotional, and/or psychological dysfunction.
Ensure compliance with program standards and maintain all necessary documentation as required by court, Walworth County Department of Health & Human Services (WCDHHS), Department of Children & Families (DCF) and state and federal statutes.
Utilize personal vehicle to transport consumers who need assistance getting to and from appointments and/or other related psychosocial activities.
Participate in trainings in order to update knowledge and skills to maintain standards and ensure certification and personal licensure.
Collaborate with other programs and individuals across the department in order to ensure proper and effective coordination of care.
Serve on related work groups, projects, committees and/or community projects, as assigned.
Demonstrate a commitment to county safety and risk management efforts.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in social work or related field and one year of relevant prior experience through a child welfare internship or position. Master's degree preferred. Proven experience in the ability to read, write and interpret legal documentation as required in Wisconsin Statutes and Standards. Knowledge of Trauma Informed Care principles is essential. Proven experience in ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals as well as ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Proven experience with Word and Excel.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Valid driver's license.
Proof of minimum automobile liability insurance coverage.
JCI Certification required within one year of hire.
Wisconsin Social Worker License or certification - A temporary certificate will meet the requirements for initial employment when an individual meets all the qualifications for the permanent certificate except for passing the required examinations. A permanent license/certificate is required for continued employment within nine (9) months of the date of hire; failure to attain said license or certification will be grounds for termination. Any lapse in Wisconsin Social Work license/certification is cause for immediate termination.
