Duties

Performs a wide variety of general operational duties in support of the indoor and outdoor day-to-day operations of the Fitness Center with other Recreation Aides and/or Fitness Specialists. Typical duties include but are not limited to the following: Operates a customer service front desk by greeting customers; answers incoming telephone calls. Ensures only authorized patrons use the facility and equipment. Ensures adherence to rules, regulations, and policies. Instruct customers on proper use and maintenance of recreation facilities and the equipment. Attempts to resolve customer complaints; collects fitness center contractor payments. Maintains a reservation system for sports courts and fields. Provides general information regarding scheduled events and classes; issues and receives equipment; maintains indoor facility to include annotating hourly head counts. Reports on safety infractions and potential mishaps. Inspects check-out items to ensure items are in good repair; reports items returned which do not meet satisfactory conditions. Inventories, restocks, and displays check-out times. Provides supervisor with a list of items that need to be ordered; sets up fitness, sports, and recreation areas for scheduled activities; notifies participants of schedule changes. Properly safeguards funds. Ensures the reserved areas are ready for use by customers. Ensure lockers are clean and operable. Cleans fitness center areas and equipment as needed, returns weight equipment and accessories to proper racks and locations; addresses policy violations when observed. Washes and dries towels and uniforms as needed. Assists in setting up facilities, grounds and equipment for programs and special functions. Performs minor maintenance or repairs of equipment as needed. Performs opening and closing procedures of facilities IAW written guidelines. Performs other related duties as assigned. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Qualifying Experience: Experience in responsible clerical or other office work of any kind that demonstrated the ability to Possess practical knowledge of recreation activities, rules, procedures, and equipment. Must have knowledge of proper cash handling procedures, operate a cash register, and solve simple math problems. Must be able to read, write and speak English. Able to perform simple computer data processing using various programs, Windows, Adobe, MS Office and other DoD web-based programs. Typing skills are desirable. Ability to communicate both electronically and in person with professional conduct.

Education

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution. FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying.

Individual must fully meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position.
