The salary range(s) represents our good faith estimate for the role at this time. Supervisor, IT Cyber Security | Pay Range: $109,500.00 - $142,250.00

Southwest Power Pool (SPP) is seeking an IT Supervisor of Cyber Security to lead and inspire a team responsible for safeguarding our systems, data, and critical infrastructure. In this leadership role, you will provide both technical direction and strategic oversight, ensuring that SPP remains at the forefront of cyber security practices.
You’ll oversee policy development, security architecture design, operational cyber security, and incident response, while guiding a team that handles threat analysis, vulnerability assessments, penetration testing, and security awareness. This role also represents SPP in key industry committees and working groups, shaping security standards and strategies that protect our members and the broader electric grid.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and supervise the Cyber Security team, providing technical direction and fostering leadership within the group
Define goals, objectives, and tactical plans for cyber security initiatives that align with SPP’s strategic vision
Ensure compliance with NERC standards and SOC1 controls through architecture requirements and security processes
Monitor SPP’s security posture, lead threat analysis, and direct incident response efforts
Serve as the leader of the SPP Cyber Incident Response Team and participate in the SPP Incident Command Structure
Oversee Security Patch Analysis to mitigate risk and maintain system integrity
Coordinate penetration testing and vulnerability assessments across development groups
Develop and maintain security policies, procedures, and standards to reduce risk and demonstrate compliance
Actively engage with regulators, auditors, and industry working groups such as SECAG, NATF, and IRC security forums
Coach, mentor, and evaluate team members through regular feedback and performance reviews
Promote and exemplify SPP’s culture, values, and strategic objectives
What We're Looking For:
Proven leadership experience in IT or Cyber Security
Strong knowledge of cyber security standards, compliance frameworks, and best practices
Experience with incident response, security architecture, and vulnerability management
Ability to communicate effectively across technical and executive teams
Skilled in mentoring and developing staff, fostering a culture of continuous improvement
Commitment to industry engagement and staying current with evolving cyber security threats
To be successful as the IT Supervisor, we're looking for:
- Bachelor degree or equivalent technical experience in computer science, cyber security, or related field.
Eight (8) years of combined experience related to IT Management, Cyber Security, System Administration or Architecture
Technical certifications with specific focus on Information Security required; CISSP preferred.
Communication skills and directive ability to deal on a regular basis with management level personnel as well as with regulators
The exercise of independent judgment without fear of reprisal Extensive contact and work with departments throughout the organization, as well as with members, auditors and regulators of the company
A wide range of skills including: oral and written communications; staff supervision; project management; and strong inter-personal skills
Flexibility and the ability to function with constantly changing and multiple priorities
Excellent organizational skills
Understanding of compliance with and enforcement of SPP Policies and Procedures

Position Type, Location, and Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time, onsite hybrid position based in Little Rock, Arkansas. The standard workweek is Monday through Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with extended hours may be required. Job requires managing staff working rotating shift schedules with long hours.
Travel Requirement:
This position requires minimal travel (approximately 10%).
