CURRENT NEED: To address the district’s current needs as we launch a new website, which is designed to more effectively tell the Plano ISD story, this position will emphasize website content management. The specialist will lead efforts to develop, organize and maintain engaging and accessible web content that highlights district initiatives and achievements. The specialist will collaborate with departments, ensure timely updates and use analytics to support the webmaster in enhancing user experience, helping to shape how our community, staff, students and other stakeholders connect with Plano ISD online.
Primary Purpose:
This position conceptualizes and produces content to be used across communications platforms, including but not limited to, website, publications, social media, presentations and video.
Qualifications: Education/Certification:
Bachelor’s Degree in Graphic Design, Public Relations, Communications, English, Journalism or a related field
Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, particularly Illustrator, InDesign and Photoshop
Expertise in digital photography, photo composition and photo editing
Proven ability to write engaging content, including news articles, press releases, website copy, key messaging and speeches
Proficiency in creating and managing accessible websites and collateral materials
Keen attention to detail and strong artistic aptitude
Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills
Up-to-date knowledge of current design trends, best practices and technologies
Outstanding communication and collaboration skills
Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
Adaptability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
Experience:
Minimum of three years of professional experience in graphic design, communications or public relations
Experience in public education sector is preferred
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Design and develop compelling content for district communications platforms and collateral materials, ensuring brand consistency
Write original content for a variety of district publications, materials, special events and videos
Assist with proofreading to ensure accuracy and consistency across all district publications and materials
Serve as a district-wide website editor, maintaining and updating content as needed
Manage multiple, concurrent projects adhering to strict deadlines
Leverage analytics to determine the effectiveness of communications activities and implement continuous improvements
Follow all rules, regulations, and policies of Plano ISD and follow directives from supervisor
Follow attendance policy as assigned by supervisor
Perform other functions that may be assigned by the Administration and/or supervisor
Equipment Used:
Includes (but not limited to): Computer (Windows OS), mobile devices, laser printers, copiers, digital camera, telephone, scanner, laminator and poster maker.

Frequent stooping, bending, kneeling, pushing and pulling; extended periods of repetitive hand motions; ability to work prolonged and irregular hours as needed; occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds
