About the role
 

We are looking for a State Retail Category Manager to join the growing team on a permanent, full time basis.


As the State Retail Category Manager for Western Australia, you will play a key role in driving the successful execution of our National Retail Strategy across crop protection, fertiliser, and seed product categories. You’ll lead a team to build strong supplier relationships, negotiate pricing, and manage core product ranges, ensuring we deliver value to our customers and stakeholders throughout the region. Working closely with state management and branches, you will help embed the national strategy locally, ensuring our product offerings and pricing remain competitive and aligned with business goals. Responsibilities
 

  • Contribute to the development and implementation of national category strategies and business plans.
  • Manage local product ranging to ensure alignment with national retail strategy across crop protection, fertiliser, and seed categories.
  • Lead supplier negotiations and pricing strategies to improve margins and category profitability.
  • Oversee the Sales and Operational Planning (S&OP) process to optimize inventory and supply chain management.
  • Collaborate with state leadership and branch teams to identify growth opportunities and support operational excellence.
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and development to your team, fostering a positive and high-performance culture.
  • Ensure compliance with workplace health and safety policies, promoting a safe and secure working environment.

About you
 

  • Strong background in retail distribution, inventory management, and business planning with a proven ability to track KPIs.
  • Excellent negotiation and interpersonal skills with a collaborative leadership style.
  • Results-oriented with strong commercial acumen, problem-solving, and analytical capabilities.
  • Experience leading and motivating teams to achieve strategic objectives and continuous improvement.
  • Commitment to safety and compliance with proactive management of quality and environmental standards.
  • Highly organised with strong self-management skills and the ability to prioritise competing demands.
  • Tertiary qualification in agriculture, business, or a related discipline is preferred.
