Irving Shipbuilding is seeking a Production Supervisor, Pipe Training and Coaching in Halifax, NS
Responsibilities
- Lead and coach a team of tradespeople, skill coaches, and trainees to meet safety, quality, and performance standards.
- Monitor and support on-the-job skill development for apprentices progressing toward Red Seal certification.
- Deliver and develop trade-specific training programs and coaching plans.
- Ensure compliance with HSE policies, collective agreements, and production schedules.
- Manage tools, materials, and resources efficiently to support daily operations.
- Accurately track time entry and maintain cost control within assigned budgets.
- Participate in apprentice recruitment and selection alongside production leadership.
- Provide supervisory backup during absences, overseeing safety, cost, schedule, and team performance.
- Resolve conflicts and manage performance improvement initiatives.
- Champion a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Qualifications
- Red Seal Pipefitter certification or equivalent trade designation.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Strong technical knowledge of industrial marine new construction and repair.
- Demonstrated leadership, mentoring, and coaching experience.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills across all levels.
- Confident in delivering presentations and leading public discussions.
- Skilled in conflict resolution and performance management.
- Ability to work collaboratively with multi-disciplinary teams.
- Experience developing training content and coaching plans.
- Commitment to safety, compliance, and workforce development.
