Overview of the role
We are seeking a passionate and pragmatic Design Lead to lead the development of the design function at IFX Payments. This is a unique opportunity to establish and shape a design culture that encompasses UI/UX, API documentation, and visual identity across the organisation.
Customer-centric simplicity is a core pillar of our product philosophy. As our first in-house design leadership hire, you’ll lead the evolution of design as a strategic function across the organisation.
and play a hands-on role in making it real. From establishing scalable design processes and embedding AI-powered tools, to crafting high-impact visual assets for Marketing, you’ll be equally confident setting strategic direction and rolling up your sleeves to contribute directly.
Responsibilities
- Provide regular reporting to the Product Director as required
- Build and lead a high-performing design team across product design, UX, and graphic design.
- Champion customer-centric simplicity at every stage of the product development lifecycle.
- Take ownership of the design of the ibanq platform - from the initial application journey through to more complex workflows.
- Oversee and continuously improve our API documentation, working closely with Engineering to ensure clarity and consistency.
- Collaborate with the Marketing team to produce visually engaging assets that support brand storytelling, campaigns, product launches, and events.
- Establish and uphold design best practices, processes, and standards that are scalable and sustainable.
- Foster a strong culture of feedback - both within the design team and across wider teams.
- Remain hands-on with the work: sketching, prototyping, testing, and iterating - particularly during the early stages of development.
- Keep informed of industry trends, evolving design practices, and emerging tools - introduce
new approaches that elevate our design output, and utilise the latest AI tools to drive efficiency in Product.
Requirements
- Wealth of experience in a leadership or senior IC role.
- A portfolio that demonstrates both strong craft and strategic thinking.
- Experience working across UI/UX, documentation, and graphic design.
- Proven ability to build and lead teams, but equally comfortable getting deep into Figma when needed.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders at all levels.
- Ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Proven ability to drive process improvements and optimise business outcomes.
- Strong business acumen with a deep understanding of industry trends, market dynamics, and customer needs.
