Product Cost Manager (Trent XWB Value Stream)

Full Time

Derby / Hybrid - 3 days on-site

What you will be doing:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, self-motivated leader to join the Trent XWB Commercial Aviation Value Stream team as Product Cost Manager.

With over 600 aircraft in service and a growing orderbook of 1300 aircraft, the Trent XWB Value Stream covers the full breadth of activity for both engines in service and in development and provides a unique opportunity to develop business breadth across the lifecycle of an engine.

The Trent XWB family of engines play a pivotal role in delivering Rolls-Royce’s financial commitments and help fund our future. This position, reporting to the Senior Vice President - Contract Management, will be the Value Stream lead for all activity related to the delivery of product cost commitments. It forms the primary interface for the Value Stream with the Civil Manufacturing Operations and Procurement teams ensuring Product Cost for both existing and future variants of the Trent XWB engine is optimised to deliver margin growth on new engine deliveries and aftermarket part sales.

The Trent XWB engine portfolio delivers a significant portion of Civil Aerospace engine and aftermarket profit, and successful management of Product Cost is critical to ensure strategic initiatives and committed business returns are delivered.

Responsibilities:

In this role you will define the Product Cost strategy for in service and New Product Introduction (NPI) engines including benchmarking to ensure best in class, as well as:

  • Deliver Value Stream engine margin improvement strategic workstream covering both Revenue and Cost levers.
  • Own Product cost inputs to all major business processes and reviews including Business Plan, Contract Review Packs and Product Introduction and Lifecycle Management (PILM).
  • Work in conjunction with the Manufacturing Operations and Procurement teams to identify, influence and drive major cost strategies and specific initiatives to deliver committed targets.
  • Ensure robust and integrated governance and reporting framework exists to drive engagement and execution of commitments.
  • Drive a cost focused culture in a product management process to ensure cost informed decision-making and understanding of financial implications of business activities.
  • For NPI programmes, determine the cost commitments for the business plan and the roadmap to achieve them.
