Pay: The expected hiring range for this position is from $100,000 - $115,000 year plus additional bonus opportunity. The stated hiring range is based on experience, qualifications, and other relevant factors. Final compensation decisions will take into account a variety of considerations, including individual skills, internal equity, and organizational needs.
JOB SUMMARY
The Underwriting Divisional Manager supports the divisional Underwriting Team. This position requires excellent communication and strong organizational skills to lead and assist the division’s Underwriters in their roles.
JOB FUNCTIONS

Team Management
- Manges day-to-day performance of the designated team.
- Conducts monthly 1:1 team member meetings.
- Collaborates with the Senior Underwriting Manager on process and quality improvement.
- Provides feedback to senior leadership for team member’s annual performance review.
Training and Growth
- Provides guidance for any second level or escalated scenario support tickets.
- Conducts monthly department meetings to keep the Underwriting team members up to date on agency updates and internal policy and procedure changes.
- Serves as a mentor and provides guidance to the Underwriting team.
- Builds strong working relationships with Sales leadership to create advocacy and partnership in balancing sales and service activities with appropriate risk management.
File Support
- Partners with the post-closing department to clear division-specific underwriting errors.
- Responds to low risk level exception ticket requests.
- Underwrites Silverton SLT and SBM loans.
- Completes VA 2nd signatures for new hires and new VA Underwriters.
- Assists with projects that require expansive Underwriting and risk management knowledge/experience to achieve desired goals and outcomes.
REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS
Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. College degree preferred.
Years of Related Experience: 5 years mortgage experience and 3 years of management experience.
Licenses/Certifications: Direct Endorsement (DE); Staff Appraisal Reviewer/Lender Appraisal Processing Program (SAR/LAPP)
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs):
- Strong understanding of mortgage products and process flow.
- Knowledge of regulatory issues surrounding consumer lending products and guidelines.
