Senior Project Manager – Water & Civil Infrastructure
North Indy,
Indiana (open to relocation candidates)
$180,000 base (flexible) + benefits
About the Opportunity
A leading employee-owned heavy civil contractor specializing in water, wastewater, and renewable energy infrastructure is seeking a Senior Project Manager to join their Indiana team. This role is ideal for an experienced professional who is either rooted in Indiana or looking to establish a long-term career in the state.
You will step into a critical leadership position with a structured transition plan. Initially, you will manage one major project (valued at $20M+), while being mentored on how to oversee broader departmental responsibilities. Over the course of the first year, you will progressively expand into a senior leadership role, ultimately succeeding a long-tenured leader.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and deliver large-scale water, wastewater, or renewable energy infrastructure projects (typically $20M+).
- Manage project teams including Project Managers, Project Engineers, and field staff, ensuring projects are completed safely, on schedule, and within budget.
- Negotiate contracts, subcontracts, and change orders with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers.
- Partner closely with senior leadership during a one-year transition period, gaining full oversight of a project management department of 60+ staff.
- Provide mentorship, training, and guidance to junior PMs and PEs, helping develop the next generation of project leadership.
- Oversee all aspects of project execution: planning, scheduling, procurement, budgeting, and risk management.
- Maintain strong client relationships while representing the company with professionalism and integrity.
Qualifications
- 10–15 years of progressive project management experience in heavy civil, water/wastewater, renewable energy, or related infrastructure sectors.
- Proven expertise in contract negotiation and project delivery at scale.
- Strong leadership skills with experience mentoring or managing teams of Project Managers and Engineers.
- Ability to oversee complex, multi-million-dollar projects while maintaining attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with a focus on client satisfaction.
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field preferred.
What’s Offered
- Competitive compensation in the $180K range (flexible) plus comprehensive benefits.
- Employee-owned company with a strong legacy in water and renewable energy construction.
- Clear succession plan with structured mentorship and leadership growth.
- Opportunity to take on responsibility for a large, established department after a full transition.
Please Note: This position is open to candidates who are authorized to work in the United States without the need for current or future visa sponsorship. We are not able to consider C2C arrangements or third-party submissions.
