Responsibilities:
 

The Project Manager directs the day-to-day operations and long-term planning of laboratories and research studies in the Center for Alzheimer’s Disease research. 

 

The Project Manager works in support of the Center Director and individual research group Principal Investigators (PIs) to ensure effective execution of research projects, enable short- and long- term planning for research funding, and equipment, and supports the success of the Center for Alzheimer’s Disease Research. The Project Manager works in coordination with the Center Director and Center PIs to support research staff and manage research protocols. The Project Director has responsibility for decision making regarding planning of research funding and execution of research projects with oversight from the Center Director. The Project Manager is responsible for developing and maintaining community and institutional partnerships that expand the center’s research and impact. 

 

This position is responsible for the launch and execution of multiple large, multi-year research grants related to Alzheimer’s disease. These grants and projects involve collaborations within Brown as well as external partnerships. The Project Manager will work with center and Carney Institute leadership as well as key staff members as part of the team that manages the overall center budget and budget of the center Director. The Project Manager must have the ability to keep multiple priorities and larger goals in focus. This position will support grant writing efforts, event planning, protocol development and implementation, management and evaluation of budget spending on designated grants, and scheduling. 

 

The position also provides project leadership and support to the Center Director to execute center priorities. 

This is a term-limited position with potential for renewal pending university funding and need. The current end date for this position is 09/01/2028. 


Qualifications:

 

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree and minimum of 5 years relevant experience, including experience managing grants. Master’s Degree preferred.

  • Knowledge of grant project research designs, organizational relationships, and the national and international context in which these projects operate.

  • Knowledge of data management tools desired

  • Experience with managing large grant budgets

 

Job Competencies

  • Familiarity with NIH grant-related compliance policies is desired 

  • Excellent writing, presentation, facilitation, and communication skills

  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills  

  • Motivated and self-starting

  • Creative, flexible, comfortable with higher management

  • Experience working with multicultural populations
