Position Summary:
The Senior Interior Designer is responsible for overseeing the creative, strategic, and operational aspects of interior design projects across the firm. This role combines design excellence with business acumen, mentoring, and team leadership. The Senior Interior Designer will lead project teams, manage client relationships, contribute to marketing and business development efforts, and help shape the direction and vision of interior design practice. This is a full-time, in-person position in our Destin or Tallahassee studio reporting directly to the Managing Principal.
Key Responsibilities:
Design Leadership
- Lead the conceptual development and execution of high-end interior design projects across education, commercial, hospitality and other sectors.
- Collaborate closely with architects, engineers, and consultants to ensure cohesive, innovative design solutions.
- Provide strategic design direction while maintaining the integrity and quality of the firm’s design standards and client goals.
Project & Team Management
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously from concept to completion, ensuring delivery on time and within budget, schedule and meet quality of standard
- Oversee and mentor junior and mid-level designers, delegating responsibilities and nurturing professional growth.
- Conduct regular team reviews to ensure design quality and adherence to project goals.
Client Relations & Presentations
- Serve as primary point of contact for key clients, building long-term relationships through excellence in service and communication.
- Lead client presentations, translating complex design ideas into clear, compelling narratives.
Marketing & Business Development
- Collaborate with the marketing team to develop proposals, pitch materials, and portfolio content.
- Represent the firm at industry events, networking opportunities, and client meetings.
- Identify new business opportunities and assist in securing new commissions.
Operations & Strategy
- Assist Managing Principal in setting strategic goals for interior department.
- Contribute to firm-wide initiatives, standards and operational improvements.
- Help manage profitability, staffing and resource planning for interior design projects.
Qualifications:
- 15+ years of experience in interior design, with significant experience in architecture and multi-disciplinary environments.
- Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or a related field.
- NCIDQ certification; additional certifications are a plus.
- Proven experience managing design teams and delivering high-caliber projects.
- Proficiency in design and documentation software (AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite, and other relevant design software).
- Experience in marketing, client acquisition, and proposal development.
- Strong public speaking and presentation skills.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
This role will require occasional travel required for site visits, client meetings and industry events.
