Job Description Summary

Organization's Summary Statement:

Under general supervision, the incumbent will work independently to perform financial aid counseling, analysis, packaging, and responding to inquiry duties in relation to the Office of Student Financial Aid in the Enrollment Management. An ability to show initiative and be able to regularly handle confidential and sensitive information about students.

The incumbent is expected to demonstrate outstanding of customer service skills, and be dedicated to providing consistent, high quality customer service to meet the needs of our diverse clientele. Will counsel a portion of the Financial Aid population on all matters concerning the availability of financial aid, eligibility, procedural steps, alternatives, budgets, resources, and the resolution of problems. Perform needs analysis, aid offer, and re-considerations of aid offer, and prepare appropriate correspondence as is related to assigned student population.

Will work with the U.S Department of Education reporting students’ Direct Loan and enrollment information. Track, notify and report Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) information. Track and report Return of Title IV funds to the U.S Department of Education. Work with the Office of the Registrar to report accurate semester/term enrollment information to the National Student Loan Data System.

Train staff in the areas of Private Loan, Direct Loan, Return of Title IV funds, and Satisfactory Academic Progress processing. Represents the office, when called upon on financial aid matters at secondary schools, other institutions of higher education, orientation and recruitment programs of the University, and at interested outside organizations and agencies. During peak times, responds to email inquiries from the Financial Aid email reflectors. The incumbent will be expected to be the expert on one special project when assigned. Performs other duties as assigned.

Physical Demands:
Normal office environment to include keyboarding, drafting correspondence, planning/documentation, and notes.
Able to push, pull, lift, and carry objects up to 25 pounds.
Ability to travel around campus for meetings and to attend to duties.
This position requires an on-site presence. May be able to work remotely one day per week.

Licenses and Certifications: NA

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.

Experience: Four (4) years of professional financial aid, finance advising, or finance counseling related experience.

Other: Additional work experience as defined above may be substituted on a year for year basis for up to four (4) years of the required education.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:

Knowledge of financial aid policies and procedures.

Knowledge of federal, state, and other applicable related laws, rules, regulations, and ordinances.

Knowledge of Title IV regulations, policies and procedures.
Skill in oral and written communication.
Skill in the use of Microsoft Office products.

Skill in attention to detail when reviewing and entering data.
Ability to multitask and prioritize assignments.
Ability to interpret and apply policies, procedures, regulations, and laws.

Ability and knowledge to assist in multiple areas throughout the office.

Ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks.
Ability to work in and promote a team environment.

Ability to interpret and communicate information based on knowledge of institutional policies, procedures, and departmental considerations.
